On March 18, Dongfeng Honda announced that the e:NS1, the first all-electric model, was officially on sale. A total of two models of the new car have been launched, with a pre-price of 18-210000 yuan, including 180000-190000 yuan for the e-version (CLTC 420km) and 200000-210000 yuan for the e-sports version (CLTC 510km). The new car is expected to go on sale in April next month.
Dongfeng Honda e:NS1 is Honda's first all-electric model with Honda logo in China. It is based on ERV N Architecture F pure electric architecture and is sister to GAC Honda e:NP1.
In terms of appearance, the new car uses the brand-new design language eRV N Design, the front part of the electric vehicle adopts the traditional closed intake grille design, the two sides are equipped with long and narrow headlights, and the middle of the front is replaced with the new flat luminous "H" logo of the EVR N series, which still retains the flavor of Honda while using a large number of common designs of pure electric vehicles. On the side of the body, the new car also uses a more traditional design style, but the 18-inch multi-spoke rim brings a good visual effect to the whole car. In the rear part, the overall shape of the new car is relatively simple, and the taillights use the more popular through-type LED taillights. The difference is that the rear part of the new car is no longer the traditional "H" mark, but is replaced by a brand new "Honda" letter logo, and the new car is also equipped with the e:NS1 identity at the lower right. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4390/1790/1560mm, wheelbase 2610mm, positioning pure electric compact SUV, the new car is almost the same as Dongfeng Honda small SUV model XR-V, but there is a certain improvement in body length, as a comparison, XR-V length, width and height are 4328/1772/1610mm, wheelbase 2610mm respectively.
In the interior part, the new car is equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD meter and a 15.2-inch central control screen. At the same time, the new car also removes all physical buttons, which is very simple as a whole.
In terms of power, the new car provides two power versions, the e-version motor has a maximum power of 134kW with a range of 402km under CLTC conditions, and the e-version motor has a maximum power of 150kW, a peak torque of 310Nm and a comprehensive range of 510km under CLTC conditions.
At present, the competition of pure electric SUV products in the domestic market is very fierce. As Dongfeng Honda's first pure electric model, the new car is positioned as a compact pure electric SUV model of smaller size, while the life span of pure electric models in this level is generally maintained between 400,550. therefore, the battery life of the new car does not have an advantage among the models of the same class, but from the price of the new car. It is expected that after the launch of the new car, it may compete with the same class SUV of joint venture brands such as SAIC-Volkswagen ID.4 X (price 19.28-278300 yuan), FAW-Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ (price 19.79-277600 yuan), and independent brand models such as GAC Ean AION V (price 17.76-239600 yuan) and BYD Song PLUS EV (18.08-197800 yuan).
According to the auto industry's previous statistics, Honda's annual sales in 2021 fell 10.40% year on year to 761879 vehicles, but this year is expected to be the year of Dongfeng Honda's products. As early as October 13 last year, Honda China released its electrification strategy and launched a new pure electric brand "eREX N" and a new intelligent and efficient pure electric architecture "eJV N Architecture". Honda China said it will launch 10 pure electric models for the Chinese market in the next five years, and will sell only pure electric and hybrid models in China from 2030. It will no longer launch new fuel vehicles, while striving to sell 800000 pure electric vehicles in China by 2030.
It is understood that this year, Dongfeng Honda will launch new models, including the new enjoy domain, the new Civic hybrid version, the new Civic HATCHBACK, the new Civic TYPE-R, the new generation XR-V, the new generation CR-V, the new pure electric e:NS1 and a brand new SUV model, a total of 8 models, of which CR-V and XR-V are the best-selling models of Dongfeng Honda. It is expected that with the gradual launch of a number of models, it will further boost Dongfeng Honda's sales. Honda sold 25.27 vehicles in China in the first two months of this year, of which Honda sold 106100 in February, up 30.1 per cent from a year earlier, far surpassing Toyota and Nissan, according to the data. In terms of brand sales, Guangzhou Auto Honda was 51200, up 39.9% year-on-year, while Dongfeng Honda was 54900, up 22.1% from the same period last year.
