On March 22nd, Skoda Motors, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group, released its 2022 results, showing that Skoda's operating revenue in fiscal 2021 was 17.7 billion euros, up 3.9 percent from the same period last year; operating profit was 1.08 billion yuan, up 43.2 percent from the same period last year; brand global sales were 515300 vehicles, up 20.85 percent from the same period last year. In terms of sales, Skoda accumulated sales of 878200 vehicles in fiscal year 2021, down 12.6% from a year earlier.

In terms of specific models, Mingrui is Skoda's best-selling product, with cumulative sales of 200800 vehicles in fiscal year 2021. Klock and Kemick sold 119200 and 120700, respectively. From a specific market point of view, Skoda sales showed a decline in many markets, including 409000 vehicles in Western Europe, 164100 vehicles in Central Europe and 35800 vehicles in Eastern Europe, down 5.9%, 9.8% and 9.2% respectively compared with the same period last year. The Russian market fell 4.4 per cent to 90400 vehicles. It is worth mentioning that all the markets grew in the first half of the year, with sales in Western Europe, Central Europe and Eastern Europe growing by 30.9%, 15.4% and 35.0% respectively compared with the same period last year, while the Russian market grew by 54.3% over the same period last year, while all the market sales fell for the whole year, which means that Skoda brand's performance in many markets in the second half of the year is not as expected.

In the Chinese market, in particular, Skoda sold 44000 vehicles in China in the first half of 2021, down 43.1% from the same period last year, compared with 71200 in 2021, down 58.8% from the same period last year. Skoda's performance is not even like that of Porsche, a luxury brand owned by Volkswagen Group, in the Chinese market. Figures show that Porsche sold 95700 vehicles in China in 2021, up 8% from the same period last year, making it the world's largest single market for the seventh year in a row.

As an once-popular model of the brand, Ming Rui ushered in a replacement in 2021. The new car is based on the Volkswagen MQB-EVO platform, the exterior and interior are redesigned, and the wheelbase is also more than the overseas version. At the beginning of its launch, Skoda brand was eager for new cars, such as the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. However, it was difficult for the brand to grow when the new bright sharp went public, with annual sales of only 16756 vehicles. Skoda is the third-largest brand by sales in Volkswagen Group, but in the past year, none of the eight models sold by Skoda brand in China exceeded 20, 000, with the highest sales of Cormick GT with 18885, followed by Mingrui with 16756 and Kirk with 14287.
