In July 2021, Skyworth ET5 changed its name to Skyworth EV6 and went public. The new car launched a total of four models with a price of 15.28-249800 yuan. Compared with Skyworth ET5, the appearance of the new car has not changed much, but it has made a lot of updates and optimizations in vehicle configuration, power battery and so on.
Compared with NIO, Xiaopeng, ideal and other new car-building brands, Skyworth, which laid out new energy buses as early as 10 years ago, has rich experience in automobile manufacturing, technical reserves and brand influence. However, Skyworth still "got up early in the morning and caught up with the evening collection", and the current situation of Skyworth Motor is really indescribable. At present, Skyworth has only Skyworth EV6 on sale, with cumulative sales of 7457 vehicles in the past year (August 2021 to February 2022), with an average monthly sales of about 1000.
According to this development, Skyworth will soon sink into the sea. Obviously, Skyworth is in urgent need of a best-selling model that can save it from fire and water, and Skyworth HT-i, which will go on sale in August, is shouldering such a mission.
So can Skyworth HT-i save Skyworth cars? The auto industry is concerned that it can be improved but cannot be changed.
As we all know, BYD's new energy vehicles are selling very well. Of the 87473 new energy vehicles sold by BYD in February, 44300 were plug-in hybrids, and DM-i contributed to the 44300 plug-in hybrids. In fact, no matter from the use cost, product price and technology maturity, BYD DM-i supermixing technology can be said to be the first-class level in the industry, while BYD, which has three electricity technology, can press the manufacturing cost to the extreme, and such cost control ability is also one of the best in China, and this is the reason why Skyworth HT-i introduced BYD DM-i supermixing technology. Obviously, carrying BYD DM-i superhybrid system is the biggest bright spot of Skyworth HT-i, which can make up for the deficiency of Skyworth cars in the hybrid market, but this is also the biggest drawback of Skyworth HT-i. It is no exaggeration to say that after using DM-i technology, BYD will become the natural enemy of Skyworth. Imagine how Skyworth HT-i, which also uses the DM-i superhybrid system, can compete with BYD's DM-i models if BYD has reduced its manufacturing costs to the extreme. At the same time, BYD's brand awareness is also much higher than Skyworth. In this context, isn't it good to buy BYD directly? BYD 4S stores also have more after-sale protection, why buy Skyworth?
In addition, Skyworth HT-i with BYD DM-i super hybrid technology, to some extent, Skyworth seems to give up independent research and development of core components, which can achieve rapid mass production in a short period of time, but it is easy to get stuck by core components. Secondly, compared with NIO, Xiaopeng, ideal, etc., as a member of cross-border car building, Skyworth does not have Internet thinking, which is mainly reflected in "unable to form unity with netizens or users".
Generally speaking, Skyworth HT-i, which built BYD's DM-i superhybrid system, does more harm than good for Skyworth. As a new energy car manufacturer, without unique technology and labels, it is difficult to survive in the market.
