It can be said that the launch of Brilliance BMW X5 should be the heaviest model since 2022. It is understood that BMW X5 made by Brilliance is the fourth generation model, built based on BMW's latest CLAR platform. As a luxury medium and large SUV, BMW X5's competitors are mainly Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, while the launch of domestic BMW X5 means that the competitiveness of Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE has declined. From the price point of view, the domestic BMW X5 sells for 60.5- 775,000 yuan, while Audi Q7 sells for 70.18- 869,800 yuan and Mercedes-Benz GLE sells for 69.98- 880,300 yuan.

BMW X5 sales have been higher than Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE before it was made in China. According to the traffic insurance data, the number of imported BMW X5 in 2021 was 50712, with a year-on-year growth of 3.46%, while Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 were 47786 and 16327 respectively, with a year-on-year growth of 32.15% and 60.29% respectively. According to the data, although the growth rate of Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 is significantly faster than BMW X5, its sales volume is much lower than BMW X5. At present, Mercedes-Benz GLE has no domestic plan, and Audi Q7 replacement failure is to aggravate the burden of the brand, and BMW X5 domestic lowered the threshold to start BBA medium and large SUV, which is still imported Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 or will cause a certain blow. Therefore, from some aspects, BMW X5 domestic production may accelerate the domestic process of Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7.

Of course, if you look at the entire luxury medium and large SUV market, the biggest threat to the domestic BMW X5 may not be Mercedes-Benz and Audi, but second-tier luxury brands. At present, the second-tier luxury brands choose domestic medium and large SUV to establish cost-performance advantages, including Cadillac XT6, Lincoln Flying Home and Infiniti QX60, all of which are on the road of localization at the same time, and have achieved certain sales growth.
