On March 30, BYD officially released the official picture of its brand new car, Seal. The new car is expected to hit the market by the end of the year, with a price range of 22-280000 yuan.

The new car is based on e-platform 3.0. it uses the styling design of the concept car Ocean-X. In terms of appearance, combined with this official map and the previously released declaration map, the new car is younger and the overall vision is lower. The front face adopts the common closed grille design of pure electric models, and both sides are equipped with C-type headlights treated with fumigation. On the side of the body, the roof of the new car uses a slip-back style, and the waistline of the body uses a penetrating shape, extending from the headlights to the rear of the car, with smooth lines, which once again enhances the sense of movement of the whole car. The taillight group of the new car adopts the latest penetrating design, with a spoiler under the car and a surround after exercise, which makes the whole car more visually low.

In terms of body size, from the declaration information, the new car length, width and height are 4800/1875/1460mm, wheelbase is 2920mm, positioning pure electric medium-sized car. For comparison, the length, width and height of Tesla Model 3 is only 4694/1850/1443mm, and the wheelbase of Changan C385 is 2875mm; the Changan C385 of Changan C385 is 4820/1890/1480mm and the wheelbase is 2900mm, which is closer to BYD seal in size.

In terms of interior and power, the official has not disclosed yet that the new car is expected to be equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade battery and a brand new front double fork arm + rear five-rod chassis structure, with single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive forms respectively, with the maximum power of 150kW (rear drive), 180kW (rear drive) and 360kW (all-wheel drive).

In terms of competitive products, considering the seal's appearance design, body size and configuration power, the seal will form the strongest competitor with Tesla Model 3 after the listing. In addition, Changan C385 may also be one of the seals' competitors. Changan C385 is expected to be listed in the third quarter of this year.

According to auto industry concerns, Ocean net is a new product sales network launched by BYD last year, including marine life series, warship series and e-series products. Among them, the marine life series is a series of products created by BYD for pure electric cars, and it is also the key series of BYD e platform 3.0. The seal model released this time is the second pure electric car in the marine life series of BYD Ocean net. The first model is dolphin. The dolphin has a total of four models, positioning small car, and the price is 9.38-121800 yuan after comprehensive subsidy.

Up to now, judging from the rectangle of BYD's products, the dolphin price of the positioning compact car is 102800-130800 yuan, and the Qin PLUS EV price of the positioning compact car is 138800-174800 yuan. The Han EV of the medium-sized sedan is priced at 214800-284500 yuan, but the medium-sized car market is still blank in BYD, so it is expected that the price may be 22-280000 yuan after the seal comes on the market to fill this gap and further improve the rectangle of BYD's products. of course, BYD has not officially announced the specific price of the seal model. Whether the final price of the seal model is in the range of 22-280000 yuan has yet to be officially announced.

The latest figures show that BYD sold 91078 cars (including passenger / commercial vehicles) in February, up 335.2 per cent from a year earlier and down 4.6 per cent from a month earlier. Among them, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles were 87473, up 764.1% from the same period last year, down 5.9% from the previous month, accounting for 96% of the total new car sales. The Ocean net Marine Life series sold 10602 dolphins in January and 8561 in February, making it another popular model owned by BYD.
