BMW's first all-electric medium-sized car, the BMW i3, was officially launched on March 31, with only one model released and priced at 349900 yuan.

The new BMW i3 is a pure electric model based on the BMW 3-Series, positioning the pure electric medium-sized sedan. In terms of appearance, the new car basically uses the design style of the fuel version of the BMW 3-Series. The difference is that the new car, as a pure electric version, has also incorporated a lot of electric elements in the overall design. In the front face, the new car uses a large-size double-kidney intake grille to increase the profile, and adopts a fully enclosed design. The interior uses a bright black matrix, with a frame with blue strips and chrome, while the new car uses a brand new headlamp set to make the whole front look more stylish. The new car has also made corresponding changes on the side of the body, such as adding additional corner decoration under the front fender. In the rear part, the new car still uses the familiar three-dimensional suspension LED taillights, and the periphery is also fumigated. What has changed is that the rear bumper of the new car has added the iconic curved blue trim bar of the BMW electric family, and the logo of the new i3 rear part is i3 eDrive 35L, which further enhances the sporty flavor and recognition of the new car. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4872/1846/1481mm and the wheelbase is 2966mm. Compared with the BMW 3-Series, the new car performs better in size. As a reference, the length, width and height of the BMW 3 series are 4719/1827/1459mm and the wheelbase is 2851mm, compared with the new BMW i3 and BMW 3 series standard wheelbase version of the extended 110mm.

In the interior part, the new car adopts the latest family style of BMW. Unlike the fuel version of the BMW 3-Series, the new car is equipped with a double screen design consisting of a 14.9-inch touch screen and a 12.3-inch LCD instrument, which makes it more technological.

In terms of power, the domestic new BMW i3 is equipped with a drive motor with a maximum output power of 210kW and a peak torque of 400Nm, which is matched by a 70 kWh high nickel ternary lithium battery pack with a range of 526km under the CLTC standard.

In terms of competitive products, the new car will compete with Tesla's Model 3 model.

At present, it is almost certain that new energy vehicles will be the major trend of the automobile industry in the future, and BMW is also accelerating the development of electrification. According to the official plan, BMW will launch five electric vehicles this year, including the BMW i3 introduced above, followed by BMW i4, BMW IX, BMW iX3 and BMW i7 models. BMW expects to launch 12 pure electric models in China by 2023, covering almost all current market segments. By 2025, at least 1/4 of BMW's cars sold in China will be pure electric vehicles. With the addition of the new domestic BMW i3, it also provides more choices for domestic consumers in pure electric travel.

Brilliance BMW sales rose 20.4 per cent to 89083 vehicles in January from a year earlier, making it into the top 10 for the first time, but sales declined in February and fell 6.1 per cent to 37001 vehicles in February, according to the data. Among them, in terms of new energy models, the cumulative sales of BMW iX3 models from January to February were 3203.
