As we all know, recently, new energy vehicles have announced price increases due to rising raw material prices, and this situation has gradually "spread" to traditional fuel cars. Mercedes-Benz, as a German luxury brand, was the first to announce a price increase, up to 121000 yuan.

Beijing Mercedes-Benz sales and Service Co., Ltd. has raised the recommended retail prices of some models on sale since April 2, 2022, according to a notice sent by Mercedes-Benz to dealers. At the same time, a list of price increases corresponding to the Mercedes-Benz brand has been exposed online, with most of the price adjustments to imported models, including some domestic models.

In response to the rumors of price increases, Mercedes-Benz confirmed: recently, due to the sharp rise in the prices of some raw materials and the shortage of the global supply chain, we have adjusted the retail prices of some models on sale since April 2, 2022. Mercedes-Benz also said that consumers can consult local authorized dealers for real-time retail prices and more related information, and the final retail price is subject to the contractual agreement between the customer and the relevant dealers.

According to relevant statistics, the Mercedes-Benz price increase involves imported C-class, E-class, CLA, S-class, GLS, G-class and some Maybach and AMG models, while domestic models involve E-class long-axis version and GLC long-axis version, almost covering the products that Mercedes-Benz is selling.

In this price adjustment, S-class cars and GLS models (including Maybach) have the highest increase, with the highest increase of 121000 yuan. The lowest price fluctuations are CLA 200Coupe and CLA 200Shooting Brake models, which have been raised by only 3000 yuan. The E-class plug-in hybrid model did not adjust the price, but cancelled the Mercedes-Benz intelligent charging wall box. In addition, the G350 model has been removed from the official website, the sale of the G500 hot special edition has been officially suspended, and the prices of the remaining G500 and AMG G63 models have been further raised, which are priced at 1.899 million yuan and 2.554 million yuan respectively.

For specific models, at present, the price of imported C-class sports cars is up to 4800 yuan, the adjusted price is 350800 yuan and 384800 yuan; the price of imported E260 fashion sports version is up 5200 yuan, the price of E260 luxury sports version rose from 433600 to 438800 yuan, the price of E260 luxury sports version rose 5800 yuan, the price of E300 sports version increased from 459000 to 464,800 yuan, the price of E300 sports version increased from 515,400 yuan to 521,800 yuan The domestic E300L fashion model rose 4900 yuan, the price was adjusted from 473900 to 478800 yuan, and the E300L luxury model rose 5900 yuan, from 492900 yuan to 498800 yuan.

The price of the domestic GLC 300L 4MATIC moving Tibetan version has increased by 5700 yuan, while the current sale price of the GLC 300L 4MATIC luxury model has increased by 5600 yuan to 476800 yuan. The imported GLS 400 4MATIC model rose 33900 yuan, the price of the GLS 450 4MATIC fashion model rose 37400 yuan from 1.0341 million yuan to 1.068 million yuan, the price of the GLS 450 4MATIC luxury model rose 42,400 yuan from 1.1586 million to 1.19.6 million yuan, and the price of the luxury model rose from 1.286 million yuan to 1.329 million yuan.

Among the S-class models, the S 400L business model rose 29600, the price was adjusted from 917200 to 946800 yuan, the S 400L luxury model increased by 34500, and the price was adjusted from 1.0383 million to 1.0728 million yuan. From the perspective of the global market, BMW Group began to raise prices in several markets around the world at the end of March. According to foreign media reports, Dr. Peter, director of BMW Group Finance and China Affairs, said: there will be a small increase in the price of all-series BMW models in Germany and other parts of Europe because of rising global raw material costs, such as rhodium, palladium and steel. Dr. Peter also said that BMW's overall manufacturing costs could increase by $1.2 billion due to the increase in raw material costs.

At present, Mercedes-Benz is the first traditional carmaker to announce a price increase, and it remains to be seen whether the price increase of Mercedes-Benz will lead more and more traditional automakers to raise prices. So far, BMW and Audi have not announced price increases, and unlike BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Audi rarely announces price increases in the domestic market, but will adjust prices as the models are upgraded, which can minimize the impact. According to the data, Mercedes-Benz sold 2.093 million vehicles worldwide in 2021, down 5.0% from a year earlier, with the Chinese market showing its first negative growth in nearly a decade, while Mercedes-Benz cited "the impact of global semiconductor supply shortages". According to the list, BMW Group sold 821000 vehicles in 2021, up 8.3 per cent from a year earlier, making it the only first-tier luxury brand with positive growth, with Mercedes-Benz and Audi falling 3.6 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively.
