On April 1, BYD officially released the official chart of the 2022 Tang EV. The new car is expected to be pre-sold in mid-late April and go on sale in mid-May. In terms of price, the new car is expected to sell in the range of 30-350000 yuan.

BYD's 2022 Tang EV application chart appeared on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology at the end of last year, and BYD released a preview map of 2022 Tang EV on its official Weibo on Feb. 23. As a modified model, the new car has a certain degree of change in appearance and interior. In terms of appearance, the new car uses the exclusive design language of BYD's pure electric model, and the interior details are fine-tuned. The front face is similar to the BYD EV design, the new car uses a Dragon Face3.0 family front face and an active intake grille, the hood is decorated with large silver strips, and the center of the stripes is printed with the "Tang EV" logo, which improves the recognition of the whole car. Compared with the current model, the new car is better in recognition. There is little change in the side and rear of the new car. The side shape of the body is slender, and the new car only changes in the wheel hub style and rear bumper details, and everything else remains basically the same. The overall shape of the rear part is relatively simple, and the rear light group still adopts a through design, with diversion grooves on both sides to further enhance the overall sense of movement of the new car, and in order to echo with the front, the design of the rear of the new car has been changed.

In terms of body size, according to the previously announced declaration information, the length, width and height of the new car are 4900/1950/1725mm, wheelbase is 2820mm, positioning pure electric medium SUV. Compared with the current model, the body length of the new car has been increased by 30mm, while other parameters remain the same.

In the interior part, the new car also uses the design of the cash model, but the details have been adjusted. In terms of color, the new car adds a new sky gray interior color; in terms of configuration, the new car will be equipped with a 15.6inch adaptive suspension central control screen and built-in DiLink 4.0Intelligent Network connection system 5G version, in addition, three new light belts have been added to the central control panel of the new car, the English logo of "BUILD YOUR DREAMS" has been added in front of the co-driver, and the electronic block handle has changed into a blue and black gradient style. In terms of seat layout, according to related news, the new car will mainly push six-seater models, with a 2-seat 2-seat layout, but at the same time, the new car will also launch a 7-seat version.

In terms of power, the new car will offer two versions of two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, of which the two-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 180 kilowatts and a peak torque of 350 Nm; the four-wheel drive version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 180 kilowatts and 200 kilowatts, respectively, with an acceleration time of 4.4 seconds from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour. In terms of mileage, compared with current models, the new car has a significant improvement, with a maximum range of 730km for the CLTC, including 730km for the two-wheel drive version of CLTC and 635km for the four-wheel drive version of CLTC. In addition, sources show that the new car will also offer a two-wheel drive model with a slightly smaller capacity battery, with a mileage of 600km under CLTC conditions.

Overall, compared with the current model, the new car has improved in appearance and power parameters, and it is expected that the new car will compete with Ford Mustang Mach-E (price range of 26.5-379900 yuan) and Tesla Model Y (price range of 31.69-417900 yuan). However, considering that the price of the 2022 Tang EV has not been officially announced yet, it remains to be verified in terms of competitive products.

In terms of sales, BYD's official figures show that BYD sold 730093 vehicles in 2021, an increase of 75.4% over the same period last year, of which sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 593745, an increase of 231.60% over the same period last year. For the 2022 annual sales target, BYD will reach its sales target of 1.2 million vehicles this year, and will hit its annual sales target of 2 million vehicles if the supply chain improves. According to the latest data, BYD sold a total of 291378 vehicles in the first quarter of 2022, with an annual target completion rate of 24.3% for 1.2 million vehicles. The Tang family, as an important model of the BYD auto dynasty series, is expected to inject new growth into BYD's sales after the launch of the new car.
