AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/09 Report--

On April 8, Mazda (China) officially released its retail results in the Chinese market for the first quarter of 2022 on its website. Data show that Mazda's cumulative sales in China from January to March in 2022 were 35853, down 28.2% from a year earlier, of which March sales were 8608, down 54.0% from a year earlier. According to the official website, Mazda currently sells models in China, including Unksera, Atez, CX-8, CX-5, CX-4 and CX-30/CX-30 EV, mainly from Oncella, with cumulative sales of 21347 vehicles in the first three months, followed by CX-5 and CX-30 with 5837 and 3704 respectively. As for other models, the sales of CX-8 itself are not ideal, while CX-4 and Atez are also in a state of digesting inventory because of the delisting of FAW Mazda. In other words, although Mazda's sales in China are not optimistic, the Onksera, as an entry-level model, is still responsible for Mazda's sales in China, which is as important as Xuanyi is to Dongfeng Nissan. If Enksera's sales plummet, the impact on the Mazda brand will also be fatal.

On March 20, the new Mazda CX-5 officially launched, launching a total of six models in two power versions, with a price range of 17.58-236800 yuan. As a revamped model, the new Mazda CX-5 does not change significantly at the appearance level, adjusting only some details and upgrading the configuration. In terms of price, with reference to the 2021 model selling price of 17.98-245800 yuan, there is no doubt that its price has been further explored, as to whether the addition and reduction of prices can lead to sales growth, it still needs to be further verified.

At present, the market performance of Mazda shows no sign of picking up, and it is still waiting for the quantity of new products, while Mazda has a lower and lower sense of existence in the Chinese market because it has not yet launched a new model. On September 26, 2021, Changan Mazda CX-30 EV officially went on sale. The new car is based on the fuel version of Changan Mazda CX-30. A total of three models have been launched with a price range of 15.98-201800 yuan. However, the Mazda CX-30 itself is a model with low sales, and the Mazda CX-30 EV is a fuel-to-electric model based on the fuel version, and the market downturn is obvious. According to the data, the sales from October 2021 to February 2022 were 12, 19, 43, 104 and 29 respectively.

For Mazda, perhaps its focus is no longer on the Chinese market. According to the plan, Mazda will launch five cross-border SUV models, namely "MAZDA CX-50", "MAZDA CX-60", "MAZDA CX-70", "MAZDA CX-80" and "MAZDA CX-90" between 2022 and 2023. On March 9, Mazda officially launched a new medium-sized SUV CX-60 in overseas markets. as a SUV model based on a new platform, Mazda will become the first plug-in hybrid model under the Mazda brand. The new car will launch three models with a price range of 36.40-398000 yuan, which will be sold in Japan and Europe. It is worth noting that at present, the known target markets of CX-60 include Japan and Europe, and it is still not clear whether they will enter the Chinese market.

In addition, Mazda has experienced frequent personnel changes in China recently. On April 7, Mazda (China) Enterprise Management Co., Ltd. issued a notice on the appointment and removal of the chairman: Xiu Kawamura, the current chairman of Mazda (China), was promoted to executive director of Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd. Nakajima, former president of Changan Mazda, became chairman of Mazda (China). In March this year, Changan Mazda officially announced that Nakajima officially stepped down as president of Changan Mazda Motor Co., Ltd., living in "King to take over Nakajima" as president of Changan Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd.
