AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/09 Report--
This afternoon, NIO issued a note on its APP that production of the whole vehicle has been suspended due to the impact of the epidemic. Since March, the company's supply chain partners in Jilin, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places have stopped production one after another because of the epidemic, and have not yet recovered, officials said. Affected by this, the production of the whole vehicle of NIO has been suspended. Affected by this reason, the delivery of the vehicles of many users will be delayed recently. NIO said that the company will work with supply chain partners to resume production as soon as possible on the premise of meeting epidemic prevention requirements.
On March 1, NIO released the latest delivery data, showing that NIO delivered 9985 new cars in March, an increase of 37.6% over the same period last year, and a total of 25768 new cars were delivered in the first quarter, up 28.5% from the same period last year. It is worth mentioning that although the sales volume of NIO is in line with expectations and achieved growth, it still falls out of the "first echelon" of new car-building forces. Data show that Xiaopeng delivered 34600 cars in the first quarter, an increase of 260% over the same period last year, ranking first; ideal cars delivered a total of 31800, an increase of 152.1% over the same period last year; and Naha car sales totaled 30200, an increase of 305% over the same period last year. It is understood that the sales volume of Lulai has not exceeded 10,000 for three months in a row, and according to NIO automobile insiders, "ES6's carbon fiber production is in Langfang, and the current epidemic in Langfang is quite serious."
This is not the first time it has been affected by the supply chain! In August 2021, NIO delivered 5880 new cars, down 26% from the previous month, falling out of the top three of the new forces of car building. In response to the reasons for the decline in delivery, NIO said that affected by the epidemic in Malaysia, Nanjing and other places, the supply of spare parts in NIO was limited, especially at the production end of ES6 and EC6, thus affecting the delivery of new cars in August.
With the spread of the epidemic, almost all car companies are facing pressure from the supply chain. According to wholesale data released by Great Wall Motor, new car sales in February 2022 were 70792, down 20.5% from a year earlier, of which overseas sales were 6037, down 38.3% from a year earlier. In view of the decline in sales, Great Wall explained that Bosch is the exclusive supplier of ESP for the main model of Great Wall, mainly due to the Spring Festival holiday and the insufficient supply of body electronic stabilization system (ESP) produced by Bosch Auto parts (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. At present, Great Wall Motor is actively promoting Bosch Group headquarters and chip suppliers to work out a production increase plan, and strive to quickly solve the problem of parts supply.
In addition to Great Wall cars, Changan automobile sales fell 37.6% year-on-year to 60682 vehicles in February, including Changan CS75 series, Changan Yitou series and Changan CS55 series. Among them, CS75 fell from 32122 in January to 12297 in February, Yitou fell to 9784 from 21324 in January, and CS55 fell from 29851 in January to 5013 in January. As for the reasons for the decline in sales, an online internal document titled "report on the serious shortage of sales resources caused by insufficient supply from Bosch and other core-related suppliers" shows that "the core-related parts continue to be in short supply, and Changan Automobile has been in serious shortage since February, including Bosch airbag controllers, EPBI and other materials, resulting in a sustained sharp decline in production and a serious shortage of market terminal resources. At present, the company's guarantee team is actively communicating solutions with Bosch and other suppliers.
It is not difficult to predict that with the impact of the epidemic in various places, the supply of auto parts will turn on a "red light" again. At the same time, the rise in the price of battery raw materials also continues to impact new energy vehicle enterprises, affecting the production and operation of automobile enterprises.
In addition to production disruption, due to the impact of the epidemic, product delivery will also be delayed. According to Xilai, as of March 31 this year, the latest model ET7 has been delivered. More new cars are on their way and will be delivered to users one after another. However, some car owners reported on APP that their expected vehicles had been produced, but could not be delivered to their city because of the epidemic. In this regard, Xilai Automobile also responded that at present, the logistics of vehicles need to follow the epidemic prevention requirements of various places, and the vehicles ordered in Shanghai really cannot be transported in.
Now, Xilai car production is once again affected by the supply of parts, and the impact is significantly more severe. At present, it is not clear how much capacity loss will be caused by the shutdown. In addition, although other car companies have not issued stop-production notices, they are not expected to be optimistic about the impact of spare parts on production. Prior to this, a number of companies have released March sales data, but none of them are satisfactory. For example, Honda's China terminal sales fell 33.2% in March from a year earlier, and Nissan's sales in China fell 32.6%. The above car companies are largely affected by the supply of spare parts.
