At the same time as Tesla resumed work, a number of Tesla parts suppliers in Shanghai also began to resume work. At present, relevant departments of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Jiangsu Province and Suzhou City are also actively coordinating supply chain recovery work."

Affected by the epidemic situation in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, many automobile manufacturers and parts suppliers stopped production or reduced production. Tesla Super Factory located in Shanghai Lingang District stopped production twice due to the epidemic situation. It stopped production for two consecutive days on March 16 and 17, and for four consecutive days from March 28. However, due to the escalation of epidemic prevention and control, Tesla resumed production on April 1, and Tesla had stopped production for three weeks until April 19. Tesla's Shanghai plant is the first foreign-owned vehicle manufacturing enterprise. It is Tesla's first factory established in overseas markets and plays an important role in Tesla's domestic sales and external supply to Asian markets. According to the data, Tesla Shanghai factory delivered 484130 vehicles in 2021, accounting for 51.7% of Tesla's total global market share. In the first quarter of 2022, Tesla Shanghai factory delivered 182174 vehicles (59846 vehicles in January, 56515 vehicles in February and 65814 vehicles in March), accounting for 58.76% of Tesla's total global market share.

Affected by the epidemic, Tesla stopped production for more than half a month, which undoubtedly had a huge impact on the delivery of the Chinese market and even the global market. According to Tesla's official website in China, the current delivery cycle for each version of Model Y ranges from 10 weeks to 20 weeks, and the delivery cycle for each version of Model 3 ranges from 16 weeks to 24 weeks, with the delivery cycle for the rear-wheel drive version of Model 3 ranging from 20 weeks to 24 weeks. In addition to Tesla, SAIC Group is also accelerating the pace of resumption of production. On April 19, SAIC Passenger Car, SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC GM, Huayu Automobile, Anji Logistics and other complete vehicles, parts and logistics enterprises under SAIC Group started the pressure test for resumption of production on April 18; on April 19, SAIC Group Lingang Passenger Car Factory completed the first vehicle under the pressure test for resumption of production.

According to the list of resumption of production, there are 249 automobile-related enterprises. At the same time, hundreds of automobile upstream and downstream industrial chains and parts enterprises, including Baoshan Iron and Steel, Electric Equipment, ZF, Valeo, Faurecia, Fuyao Glass, Kasma, Daliu, Yanfeng, etc., have also entered the "white list" of the first batch of key enterprises to resume production.

According to public information, Shanghai, as an important automobile industry gathering place in China, currently owns complete vehicle enterprises such as SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC GM and Tesla. According to the data, the automobile output of Shanghai City in 2021 was 2.8332 million vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 7.0%, accounting for 10.7% of the total automobile output of 26.528 million vehicles nationwide. However, at present, under the coordination at the government level and the active response of vehicle enterprises, supply chain enterprises and supporting enterprises, automobile enterprises and parts enterprises in Changchun, Shanghai and other places have begun to restart steadily. Although it still takes some time to recover to the epidemic situation, it can be predicted that the short-term pressure has been resolved, and the whole vehicle enterprises will not stop production in large areas in May.
