Affected by the epidemic situation in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, many automobile manufacturers and parts suppliers stopped production or reduced production. Tesla Super Factory located in Shanghai Lingang District stopped production twice due to the epidemic situation. It stopped production for two consecutive days on March 16 and 17, and for four consecutive days from March 28. Tesla's Shanghai plant is the first foreign-owned vehicle manufacturing enterprise. It is Tesla's first factory established in overseas markets and plays an important role in Tesla's domestic sales and external supply to Asian markets. According to the data, Tesla Shanghai factory delivered 484130 vehicles in 2021, accounting for 51.7% of Tesla's total global market share. In the first quarter of 2022, Tesla Shanghai factory delivered 182174 vehicles (59846 vehicles in January, 56515 vehicles in February and 65814 vehicles in March), accounting for 58.76% of Tesla's total global market share.

According to public information, Shanghai, as an important automobile industry gathering place in China, currently owns complete vehicle enterprises such as SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC GM and Tesla. According to the data, the automobile output of Shanghai City in 2021 was 2.8332 million vehicles, with a year-on-year growth of 7.0%, accounting for 10.7% of the total automobile output of 26.528 million vehicles nationwide. However, at present, under the coordination at the government level and the active response of vehicle enterprises, supply chain enterprises and supporting enterprises, automobile enterprises and parts enterprises in Changchun, Shanghai and other places have begun to restart steadily. Although it still takes some time to recover to the epidemic situation, it can be predicted that the short-term pressure has been resolved, and the whole vehicle enterprises will not stop production in large areas in May.
