AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)04/20 Report--
According to the Interface News, a Weima EX5 in Haikou, Hainan, suddenly burst into smoke and burst into flames a few minutes after the charging was completed. Surveillance video showed that the Weimar EX5 was not charging, but caught fire a few minutes after the power outage. its chassis suddenly smoked and caught fire, accompanied by an explosion of tires, while the taxi that was charging was quickly driven away. As of press time, Weimar officials have not yet responded to the accident.
This is the third fire accident that occurred in Weima this year! On January 21, Ms. Ding and Mr. Wang, who live in Haikou, Hainan, drove the Weima EX5 rented from a car rental company to play in Sanya, charging the charging post in the hotel in the morning and smoking just 10 minutes after driving out, according to the China Central Radio and Television headquarters. Mr. Wang said that from hearing the sound to smoking and catching fire, the whole process was only 10 seconds. Fortunately, he reacted quickly at that time and stopped immediately, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable.
After the accident, the fire rescue brigade of Jiyang District, Sanya City, issued a "Fire accident Identification Certificate" on February 21, identifying the causes of the fire as follows: the place of fire was "power battery"; the cause of the fire was "fire caused by battery failure". The facts are confirmed by "interrogation transcripts", "on-the-spot inspection transcripts", on-site photos and videos. However, Weimar does not agree with the fire brigade's determination of the accident, insisting that there is nothing wrong with its car and that the fire was caused by the collision. However, as to which appraisal institution made the judgment, what does the "collision" in the speech mean? Weimar did not give any explanation. In addition, Ms. Ding also denied that there was no collision with Weimar EX5 that day. Photos of the incident also show that the accident vehicle parked in the middle of the road, there are no other vehicles around, the fire department can not ignore the car collision and other factors.
In October 2020, Weimar had three fires in succession, including not only private cars, but also Weima taxis operated locally in Fujian. After the incident, Weimar filed a recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, recalling 1282 Weima electric vehicles because of quality defects in power batteries. Impurities mixed by battery suppliers in the production process may lead to abnormal lithium evolution of batteries. However, the recall measures did not completely solve the hidden danger of spontaneous combustion. According to the Interface News, Weimar burned three EX5 vehicles in December 2021, including two spontaneous combustion accidents when the vehicles stopped, but after many fires, Weima officials did not respond to the incident.
Related to the spontaneous combustion accident, the Weima electric car is frequently exposed to "power lock". On March 15, Guangdong 315 evening party exposed Weimar "Lock electricity". According to feedback from several car owners, their Weima experienced problems such as reduced service life and slow charging speed after maintenance and upgrading, and car owners suspected that the authorities had secretly waited for the vehicle to "lock up" on the grounds of maintenance and upgrade. According to Mr. Zheng, the owner of Guangzhou Weima EX5, he went to Weima user Center to do maintenance on April 25, 2021. After maintenance, the mileage of the car was reduced from the original 350km to 250km. At first, Mr. Zheng thought it was due to frequent use of car air conditioners or his driving habits led to increased energy consumption, but several recharges found that the actual range decreased, which brought Mr. Zheng a lot of mileage anxiety. In addition to the shrinking range, the charging speed of the Weima EX5 also slows down significantly after maintenance. Mr. Zheng said it used to take only about an hour and 15 minutes to recharge, but now it takes two or three hours.
After inspection by authoritative testing institutions, it is found that it is indeed different from cars with normal mileage. Wang Xudong, president of the testing and evaluator branch of the China Automobile Circulation Association, said: "comparing the cars with normal mileage with the problematic cars submitted for inspection, it is found that its charging post shows 100% when it is full, but the actual electricity we read from the decoder is only 89%." Zhang Xiang, an auto industry analyst, said the main reason for the "power lock" is the immaturity of corporate battery technology. When the battery pack is overcharged, that is, the charging time is too long and the load is oversaturated, the positive and negative poles are prone to short-circuit expansion, resulting in thermal runaway, and in serious cases, the battery may explode and cause spontaneous combustion.
Data show that Weima Automobile was founded in 2015, headquartered in Shanghai, the first production car Weima EX5 on September 28th 2018 on the market delivery. Data show that in 2019, Weimar delivered 16900 vehicles, NIO delivered 20600 vehicles, and Xiaopeng delivered 16700 vehicles, ranking second in the new power car company. In 2020, Weima delivered 22500 vehicles, while Weimar delivered 43700 vehicles, Xiaopeng delivered 27000 vehicles, and the ideal delivery was 32600 vehicles. Weima has fallen out of the top three. Weimar fell behind again in 2021. Xiaopeng delivered 98200 vehicles for the whole year, Ulai delivered 91400 vehicles, ideal delivered 90500 vehicles, Nahu delivered 69700 vehicles, and Weimar delivered 44200 vehicles for the whole year. In the first quarter of this year, Xiaopeng, ideal, Nezha, NIO and Zero delivered 34600 vehicles, 31700 vehicles, 30200 vehicles, 25800 vehicles and 21600 vehicles respectively, while Weima delivered 11500 vehicles, of which Weimar W6 delivered 2243 vehicles and Weimar EX5 delivered 3189 vehicles. The delivery situation not only lags behind new head forces such as Wei Xiaoli, but also lags behind rising stars such as Nezha and Zero running. However, officials have turned a blind eye to the continuing fire accidents and power locking, and Weima may face more problems, which will not only question the product quality, but also affect the brand reputation, and car owners in order to protect their legitimate rights and interests, do not rule out the use of radical means to solve the problem.
