It is decided that a total of 9663 Tang DM electric vehicles produced from September 2, 2021 to March 14, 2022 will be recalled from April 29, 2022.

The reason for the recall: the power battery pack tray of some vehicles within the scope of this recall is not smooth due to manufacturing reasons, and there is a risk of water intake. This may cause the electrical circuit failure of the power battery system, in extreme cases, there is a risk of thermal runaway of the power battery, and there is a hidden danger of safety.

In view of the above defects, BYD Automotive Industry Co., Ltd. will entrust an authorized dealer to inspect the vehicles within the recall scope, and replace the battery pack free of charge if there is leakage of the battery pack or uneven installation surface of the pallet breathable valve. To eliminate safety risks.

According to the automotive industry's concern, the recall involves the model "Tang DM" is one of BYD's sales models, positioning medium-sized SUV, a total of six different configurations of models, the vehicle price is 195800-289800 yuan. According to the data released by the Federation of passengers, the cumulative sales of BYD Tang DM from September to December 2021 were 29299 (5822; 6762; 8013; 8700, respectively), and 27929 in the first quarter of this year (including 8847 in January, 10026 in February and 9056 in March). The recall of 9663 vehicles accounted for 16.9% of total sales (September 2021-March 2022).

BYD, as the leader of new energy vehicles in China, data show that BYD sold 291400 vehicles in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 179.78 percent over the same period last year, of which 284700 new energy passenger vehicles were sold, an increase of 433.42 percent over the same period last year. Sales of fuel vehicles were 5049, down 89.78% from the same period last year. According to the data, new energy vehicles are the most important source of BYD's sales. At present, BYD took the lead in announcing its withdrawal from the fuel vehicle market at the beginning of this month. In other words, BYD will be responsible for all BYD's sales from April.

On April 27, BYD announced its results for the first quarter of this year, which showed that in the first quarter of this year, BYD realized operating income of 66.83 billion yuan, an increase of 63.02% over the same period last year, and a net profit of 808 million yuan belonging to shareholders of listed companies, an increase of 240.59% over the same period last year. 514 million yuan was deducted from non-net profit, an increase of 729.44% over the same period last year.
