According to the recall notice, from April 29, 2022, some imported and domestic Model 3 high-performance electric vehicles were recalled from January 12, 2019 to March 25, 2022, a total of 14684 electric vehicles, including 1850 imported vehicles and 12834 domestic vehicles.

The reason for the recall: due to software reasons, the vehicles within the scope of this recall are in the track mode, the speed area in the central touch screen only shows the speed value, and the speed unit (KM/H) is missing. When the vehicle is driving in the track mode, the above situation may affect the driver's correct understanding of the speed information, in extreme cases will increase the risk of collision accidents, there are safety risks.

Solution: Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the recalled vehicles to 2022.12 or subsequent versions of the software free of charge through the car remote upgrade (OTA) technology. The upgraded vehicles will display speed units (KM/H) in track mode, and users can complete the software upgrade without going to the store. For vehicles that cannot be recalled through remote upgrade (OTA) technology, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will contact relevant users through Tesla service center to upgrade software for vehicles free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

From the recall announcement, Tesla recalled some of the imported and domestic Model 3 high-performance version of the number of more than 14000 vehicles, but most of the problems can be solved through OTA, that is, the recall is due to software problems, not hardware problems, in fact, Tesla's recall in the past also appeared to solve product defects through OTA, the latest occurred this month.

Judging from the two recalls of Tesla this month, it means that the total number of imported and domestic Model 3 models recalled by Tesla this month has exceeded 140000. As far as domestic Model 3 is concerned, a total of 106412 domestic Model 3 were recalled before and after this month, accounting for 70.5 per cent of the 150890 Model 3 delivered in 2021.

According to the latest data, Tesla delivered 310048 vehicles worldwide in the first quarter of this year, of which 295324 were delivered by Model 3 and Model Y, accounting for 95% of the total; domestic delivery was 182174 in the first quarter, of which 76684 Model 3 models were delivered (26548 in January, 24112 in February and 26,024 in March), accounting for 42 per cent of the total domestic delivery.
