On the evening of May 8, Dongfeng Motor released its April car production and sales data, which showed that Dongfeng Motor sold 7044 vehicles in April, down 66.29 percent from the same period last year, of which 1237 new energy vehicles were sold, up 18.26 percent from the same period last year. In addition, from January to April this year, Dongfeng accumulated sales of 49616 vehicles, down 28.13% from the same period last year, while new energy vehicles sold 5565 units, up 45.1% from the same period last year.

From the data point of view, Dongfeng Automobile in the new energy vehicle performance is more eye-catching. One of the more noteworthy is the Dongfeng Lantu automobile brand, which is a high-end intelligent electric brand of Dongfeng Automobile Group. It was founded in 2018 and officially released its brand logo and Chinese name on July 17, 2020. The first model, Lantu FREE, went on sale on June 19, 2021. Data show that its sales from January to March this year were 1553, 740 and 1385 respectively. At present, Lantu Dreamer, the second mass production model of Lantu Automobile, went on sale yesterday, with a price range of 36.99 yuan to 439900 yuan, but the official figures for April have not yet been released.

In the field of passenger cars, Dongfeng Fengshen sales performed well. Dongfeng Fengshen sold 9597 vehicles in April, an increase of 25.2% over the same period last year, of which 55487 vehicles were sold from January to April, an increase of 122.3% over the same period last year.

In the field of joint venture vehicles, DPCA accumulated sales of 9316 vehicles, achieving 17 consecutive months of positive year-on-year growth, of which cumulative sales from January to April were 39632, up 58 per cent from the same period last year.

It is worth noting that Dongfeng Honda showed a downward trend. Data show that Dongfeng Honda sold 52280 terminal vehicles in April, down 38.4% from 84923 in the same period. Dongfeng Honda's cumulative sales from January to April were 221216, down 25.0% from a year earlier.

As one of the large domestic automakers, Dongfeng Group announced that it would sell 3.471 million vehicles a year in 2022, an increase of 25% compared with 2021, of which passenger car sales target is about 2.8832 million, an increase of 28% compared with 2021. Commercial vehicle sales target is 577000, an increase of 10% compared with 2021. It is clear that the joint venture brands Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda will be one of the important pillars for Dongfeng Group to achieve its 2022 sales target.

In terms of product layout, Dongfeng Group previously said that it will launch more than 13 new products in 2022, among which its own brands will launch key models such as MPV Lantu Dreamer and Fengshen Haoji. The new cars in the joint venture section focus on new energy vehicles. Dongfeng Nissan Ariya, Dongfeng Honda e NS1 and Shenlong D78 (Fukang ES600 electric vehicle) are all pure electric vehicles, while Dongfeng Honda's key model CR-V will be replaced in 2022. At present, Lantu car Lantu dreamer and the first model e:NS1 of Dongfeng Honda's new pure electric car brand "e ES600 N" have all been listed on the market. Dongfeng Nissan Ariya also appears in the new product catalogue of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and pre-sale is expected to begin this year. It remains to be seen whether the new car will bring new growth points to Dongfeng Group's sales after its launch.
