On May 11, SAIC Volkswagen raised the price of all models, ranging from 1000 to 3000 yuan for fuel vehicles and 3000 to 5000 yuan for new energy vehicles. In response to the reasons for the price increase, SAIC-Volkswagen said it was affected by the supply of spare parts and the rising price of upstream raw materials.

The concern of the automobile industry learned from the SAIC-Volkswagen website that the price of Lingdu L, which has just been listed on the market, has been adjusted to 150900 yuan, including Xinlangyi, Santana, Polo, Toujia, and Tuan L, which have all increased by 1000 yuan. The starting price of the 2022 Tuguan L will be adjusted from 215800 yuan to 217800 yuan, the starting price of the 2022 Tuyue model will be adjusted from 156600 yuan to 158800 yuan, the starting price of the new Passat will be adjusted to 181900 yuan, and the prices of all three models will increase by 2000 yuan. In addition, the prices of Xinhui Ang and Sunway Aung both increased by 3000 yuan, with the former starting at 343000 yuan and the latter starting at 295000 yuan.

In terms of new energy vehicles, SAIC Volkswagen ID. The prices of the three models of the family all increased, of which the 2022 ID.3 models were sold from 165288 yuan to 168288 yuan, an increase of 3000 yuan. The 2022 ID.6 X rose by 3000 yuan, with the latest selling price starting from 248288 yuan. The 2022 ID.4 X is up 5000 yuan, with the latest official guidance price of 210288-283288 yuan. In addition, the official guided prices of the new Passat PHEV and Tuguan L PHEV also rose at the same time, with the former starting at 233150 yuan and the latter starting at 261050 yuan.

The situation in Russia and Ukraine, the impact of the epidemic, and the rise in raw material prices have brought greater pressure on the automobile industry, but it is not the traditional fuel automobile enterprises that are the first to be hit, but the new energy automobile enterprises. Since March, including Tesla, BYD, Xiaopeng, ideal and so on have announced an increase in sales prices. By May, nearly 50 new energy models from more than 20 car companies have announced price increases, with rising prices of raw materials and shortage of spare parts transmitted to the whole vehicle, which are considered to be the main reasons for the price adjustment.

Prior to this, SAIC-Volkswagen also had a response to its ID. The price of the family has been raised, but the official has made use of the new car to increase the price of the product at the same time, thus avoiding the impact of the price increase to the greatest extent. This adjustment includes not only new energy vehicles, but also traditional fuel vehicles, which means that the prices of all kinds of raw materials remain high. SAIC-Volkswagen has been unable to withstand the cost pressure and has to adjust the price of its products. As for whether SAIC-Volkswagen price increases will drive more and more traditional car companies to raise prices, it remains to be seen.

Earlier, according to a notice sent by Mercedes-Benz to dealers, Beijing Mercedes-Benz sales and Service Co., Ltd. has raised the recommended retail prices of some models on sale since April 2, 2022. According to relevant statistics, the Mercedes-Benz price increase involves imported C-class, E-class, CLA, S-class, GLS, G-class and some Maybach and AMG models, while domestic models involve E-class long-axis version and GLC long-axis version, almost covering the products that Mercedes-Benz is selling.

Before, the agreement prices signed between many car companies and suppliers are relatively low, and the pressure from car companies is not great, while the rising prices of new energy vehicles are the response measures made by downstream car companies after successive price increases in upstream materials. Now Mercedes-Benz has also raised the official guidance price, which means that the fuel car plate has also been affected. However, Cui Dongshu believes that the automotive industry as a whole will not usher in a wave of price increases. Compared with new energy companies, the demand of traditional car companies has shrunk, and price increases are not strong enough.
