On June 1, BYD's 2022 Tang EV officially went on sale, with a total of three models with different configurations, with a price range of 27.98-339800 yuan after comprehensive subsidy.

As a modified model, the new car has a certain degree of change in appearance and interior. In terms of appearance, the new car uses the exclusive design language of BYD's pure electric model, and the front face completely removes the design of the front grille and is replaced by a design similar to the BYD EV. The new car uses a Dragon Face3.0 family front face and an active intake grille, while the bottom of the hood is decorated with a large silver strip with the logo "Don EV" printed in the center, which improves the recognition of the whole car. Compared with the old model, the new car is better in recognition.

For the side and rear parts of the body, the new car basically extends the design of the old model. The side shape of the body is slender, and the new car only changes in the wheel hub style and rear bumper details, and everything else remains basically the same. The overall shape of the rear part is relatively simple, and the rear light group still adopts a through design, with diversion grooves on both sides to further enhance the overall sense of movement of the new car, and in order to echo with the front, the design of the rear of the new car has been changed. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4900/1950/1725mm, the wheelbase is 2820mm, and the positioning is pure electric medium SUV. Compared with the old model, the body length of the new car is increased by 30mm, and other parameters remain the same.

In the interior part, the new car also uses the design of the cash model, but the details have been adjusted. In terms of color, the new car adds a new sky gray interior color; in terms of configuration, the new car will be equipped with a 15.6inch adaptive suspension central control screen and built-in DiLink 4.0Intelligent Network connection system 5G version, in addition, three new light belts have been added to the central control panel of the new car, the English logo of "BUILD YOUR DREAMS" has been added in front of the co-driver, and the electronic block handle has changed into a blue and black gradient style. In terms of seat layout, the new car adopts a 2-2-2 seat layout.

In terms of power, the new car offers two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, of which the two-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 180 kW and a peak torque of 350 Nm; the four-wheel drive version is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 180 kW and 200 kW respectively on the front and rear axles with an acceleration time of 4.4 seconds at 0-100 km / h. In terms of mileage, compared with the old models, the new car has a significant improvement, the CLTC has a maximum range of 730km, the two-wheel drive version of CLTC has a range of 730km under integrated conditions, and the four-wheel drive version of CLTC has a range of 635km under integrated conditions. In addition, the new car provides two-wheel drive models with slightly smaller capacity batteries, with CLTC mileage of 600km. For comparison, the mileage of the old model is only 500-550 km.

On the whole, compared with the old models, the appearance and power parameters of the new car have been greatly improved. Tang EV, the flagship SUV of the BYD auto dynasty series, has received 8505 orders for new cars in just 24 hours of pre-sale, according to BYD.

From January to April this year, BYD Song Plus DM-i ranked first in the new energy SUV rankings (95304 vehicles), followed by Tesla Model Y (75641 vehicles) and BYD Tang DM-i (38066 vehicles), according to FIFA data. When it comes to pure electric SUV models worth more than 300000 yuan, Tesla Model Y is the champion, followed by Lulai ES6 (15498), ES6 coupe version EC6 (8896), BMW iX3 (6234) and ID6. CROZZ (5708), followed by the old Tang EV (2495). The new Tang EV, as a pure electric SUV model with about 300000 yuan, is expected to compete with Tesla Model Y (price range 31.69-417900 yuan) after the new car comes on the market.

Public data show that from January to April this year, BYD sold 392371 vehicles, an increase of 387.94 percent over the same period last year, including 390212 new energy passenger vehicles, an increase of 397.63 percent over the same period last year. Based on BYD's 2022 sales target of 1.5 million vehicles, BYD had achieved 26% of its sales target of 1.5 million vehicles by April. According to the latest figures, BYD's retail sales in April were 104800, up 138.4% from a year earlier, making it the only car company on the list that has achieved growth and the only one on the list that only sells new energy vehicles. In terms of specific models, BYD has a total of more than 10,000 models in April, of which 10107 are Tang. The new Tang EV has greatly improved in terms of appearance and power parameters, and it is expected that the new car will continue to contribute to BYD's annual sales target after its launch.
