On June 1st, a new generation of Mercedes-Benz GLC was officially released. As the second generation of the car series, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC and the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class share MRA2 platform production, its overall design style has not changed greatly. It is understood that the new generation of Mercedes-Benz GLCs will be launched in 2022, and its derivative Mercedes-Benz GLC coupe version as well as AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63 will be launched in 2023.

In terms of appearance, the front face of the new car is still inlaid with a large-size medium net, Mercedes-Benz's trigeminal star emblem LOGO and a decoration that runs through the entire front grille. It is worth mentioning that the new Mercedes-Benz GLC will offer a dual design, with a Xinghui grille for the plug-in hybrid model and a straight waterfall design for the fuel version. From a side point of view, the overall shape of the new Mercedes-Benz GLCs has not changed much, but the lower edge of the original straight window line has become an upward rise similar to that of the GLA. In the rear part, the taillight group is redesigned and injected with the latest Mercedes-Benz design style. the inverted triangle shape can also be seen in C-class and S-class body, using flattening treatment and three-dimensional structure inside. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4718/1890/1640mm and the wheelbase is 2888mm.

In the car, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC uses a design similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, including a 12.3inch full LCD instrument and an 11.9in central control screen, which tilts slightly to the driver and connects smoothly with the center console in an arc curve, creating a dynamic and luxurious visual effect. It is worth mentioning that the steering wheel of the new car also has two styles, the flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel is similar to the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the other is closer to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. In addition, the upper layer of the dashboard is inlaid with a flat circular air outlet like a jet engine, and the lower lines extend naturally.

On the power side, the new car will be available in gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions. Among them, the GLC 200and GLC 300are powered by a mild hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz M254 2.0T turbocharged gasoline engine, with maximum power of 150kw and 190kw, respectively. The GLC 300e and GLC 400e are equipped with 2.0T turbocharged gasoline engines with maximum power of 150kw and 185kw, respectively.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is not only one of the most important models in the Mercedes-Benz product lineup, but also the best-selling model of Mercedes-Benz in the past two years. The overall styling is much more stylish, and with the addition of the GLC sedan model and the AMG GLC model, the Mercedes-Benz GLC has once again become the best-selling model of Beijing Mercedes-Benz. In November 2018, Beijing Mercedes-Benz lengthened the Mercedes-Benz GLC and named it "GLC L" to better compete with Audi Q5L and BMW 3-Series for market share. In 2019, the Mercedes-Benz GLC carried out a medium-term revamp, synchronizing the latest design style of the Mercedes-Benz family, bringing some freshness.

In the luxury car market, Mercedes-Benz GLC's direct competitors are Audi Q5L and BMW X3. The data show that BMW X3 sold 151516 vehicles in 2021, Audi Q5L sold 137758 vehicles, and Mercedes-Benz GLCs were somewhere between the two cars, with 147181 vehicles. From the point of view of the update time, the Audi Q5L and BMW X3 have just completed the mid-term upgrade when the Mercedes-Benz GLC is updated, while the Audi Q5L and BMW X3 have just completed the medium-term upgrade before the new Mercedes-Benz GLCs are replaced. As for this kind of dislocation competition in time, it remains to be seen whether it can bring advantages to Mercedes-Benz GLC.

Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic and global supply chain shortages and other factors, Mercedes-Benz delivered 192000 new cars to Chinese customers in the first quarter of 2022. Among them, Mercedes-Benz GLC retail 45000, up 6.6%; Mercedes-Benz E-class retail 43000, up 1.95%; Mercedes-Benz C-Class retail 25000, down 40.1%; Mercedes-Benz GLB retail 14000, down 26.3%.
