According to the latest retail data released by the Federation of passengers, sales in the domestic narrow passenger car market in May 2022 were 1.354 million, down 16.9 percent from the same period last year, up 29.7 percent from the previous year, of which 360000 were new energy passenger vehicles, up 91.2 percent from the same period last year and 27.3 percent from the previous year.

According to the concerned statistics of the automobile industry, in May 2022, the top three new energy vehicle companies were BYD, SAIC GM Wuling and GAC Eian, with sales of 113768, 31894 and 21056 respectively. Among them, BYD is the only new energy vehicle company with a retail volume of more than 100000 vehicles, with a market share of 31.6%. According to statistics, in May, a total of 11 new energy vehicle companies sold more than 10,000 vehicles. Riding on the "east wind" of new energy vehicles, BYD has once again become the top seller. While the passenger car market is under great pressure, the new energy vehicle market is growing strongly. From the general direction, BYD's discontinued production of fuel cars does represent the inevitable trend of the transformation of the automobile industry, and represents that the products have entered a new period of development. This transformation is in line with BYD's consistent strategic thinking and historical accumulation, but it does not mean that all car companies can meet this requirement. According to incomplete statistics of public reports, at least 13 car brands around the world have clearly announced the time to stop production or sales of fuel vehicles, including Jaguar Land Rover, Haima Motors and Audi. In addition, FAW, SAIC, Geely and other traditional car companies have not clearly stated the specific time of stopping the production of fuel vehicles, but most of them take 2025 as the time node as the key moment of electric transformation. For the current market, although new energy vehicles to replace fuel vehicles is an inevitable trend, but the current market is still dominated by fuel vehicles, the two are not the relationship between growth and decline, but a gradual process.
