According to the "custom" of NIO, the usual new cars are not released until the annual NIO DAY, but the ES7 breaks this tradition, and the reason for this may only be known by NIO. In terms of appearance, ES7 does not use the same design as ES6 and ES8, but adds new X-Bar design elements, which is basically the same as ET5 and ET7, the outer outline of the headlamp is more round, the interior of the split headlamp group uses a smoked black design, while canceling the black ornaments between the headlights, the whole looks more introverted. From the side, the new car continues the suspended roof design, the roof line extends down from the B column to the rear, the position of the charging port of the new car is adjusted to the left side of the body, and there is a lidar and two high cameras above the front windshield, which is consistent with the ET7 and ET5 models. The rear part of the car, the rear shape is different from the current SUV products, adding through-type LED taillights, the raised design on both sides is integrated with the slightly raised rear door. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4912/1987/1720mm, the wheelbase is 2960mm, and the positioning of medium and large pure electric SUV is between the ES6 and ES8, which mainly fills the gap in the market where there are no five-seat models in the ES8.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with the same powertrain as the ET7, the maximum power of the front and rear motors is 180kW and 300kW respectively, the total power of the system is 480kW, the maximum torque is 850N ·m, and the acceleration capacity of 0-100km/h will be less than 4 seconds, which will become the fastest SUV.
It is understood that the ES7 will be on the standard BMW X5 and Porsche Cayenne and other models, but in the domestic market due to BMW X5, Cayenne and other models will have import taxes and fees, so the pricing will be significantly higher than the ES7. In terms of price, it is expected that the price of the ES7 is likely to be at the same level as the ET7, that is, between 45 and 550000, where there are not many pure electric SUV models in the market.
According to the official website, with a total of six models, it is the brand with the most product planning among the new forces, including ES8, ES6, EC6, ET7, ET5 and ES7, which goes on sale today. It should be noted that the above models are sold at more than 300000 yuan, which is the brand with higher unit price in the new power at present. Prior to this, Qin Lihong, co-founder of NIO, said on NIO Sai Road that NIO would not launch models under 300000 yuan, and products under 300000 yuan would be sold in the form of sub-brands.
Due to the high unit price, NIO obviously lost the market after entering 2021. Official figures show that a total of 25768 new cars were delivered in the first quarter, an increase of 28.5% over the same period last year. Xiaopeng delivered 34561 new cars in the same period, an increase of 159% over the same period last year. Ideal delivery of new cars was 31716, an increase of 152% over the same period last year.
In April, the delivery volume of Ulai, ideal and Xiaopeng car dropped sharply. In May, Xiaopeng and the ideal delivery volume picked up quickly and both returned to the 10,000 class, while NIO's performance was slightly lower, delivering 7024 new cars a month, while ideal and Xiaopeng delivered 11496 and 10125 respectively.

According to the financial report, the operating loss of NIO in the first quarter was 2.189 billion yuan, an increase of 639.7% over the same period last year, and a net loss of 1.783 billion yuan, an increase of 295.3% over the same period last year. According to the financial report, the gross profit margin of Lulai vehicle sales in the first quarter was 18.1%, and the overall gross profit margin was 14.6%. Perhaps, for Ulai, it is normal to be unable to make a profit in the short term, but what makes the market uneasy is that losses continue to expand and the delivery situation is grim.
According to the Federation of passengers, the domestic retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles from January to May were 1.712 million, an increase of 119.5% over the same period last year, of which 360000 were new energy passenger vehicles in May, an increase of 91.2% over the same period last year. It is not difficult to see from the data that the popularity of new energy vehicles in the domestic automobile market is not reduced, and as a new power brand, Ulai is still in the forefront of the market.
The wind of new energy cars has been blowing long enough, but people are starting to pay more attention to substance than storytelling. Customers should be persuaded with practical ability, but it will take time, space and financial pressure to last. Li Bin once said that 2023 and 2024 are the time period for the new energy vehicle industry to move towards the "finals", and NIO will accelerate in an all-round way in 2022.
