The e:NP1 Jipai 1, the first pure electric SUV model under the new brand of Guangzhou Auto Honda, will be officially launched this evening, and the price of the new car will be announced in the evening.

According to the attention of the automobile industry, e:NP1 Jinpai 1 has appeared many times before. On March 28th, Guangzhou Auto Honda unveiled its new electric brand e:NP, and named it "Jipai" in Chinese, and the first model, Jipai 1, was also unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show, which is GAC Honda's new car e:NP1, which is located in the compact pure electric SUV. Combined with the previously released official map, as the first electric model of GAC Honda's new brand, the new car adopts the Honda family's latest "ERV N Design" design language and uses the common design elements of electric vehicles.

Specifically, in the front part, the new car uses a closed grille design, with the middle can be lit "H" LOGO logo, slender and sharp headlights and closed medium net to form an integrated design, the overall look more concise and clean. On the side of the body, the new car uses a straight waistline and the gap between the engine hatch from the beginning to the end, similar to the colorful and XR-V models, and the rear doors are also designed with hidden door handles, but the front doors are still traditional door handles. In the rear part, the design style of the new car is also relatively simple. The LED taillight group uses the popular penetrating design, under which the Honda brand logo is replaced by the "HONDA" logo, which improves the visual width of the rear. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4388/1790/1560mm and the wheelbase is 2610mm.

In terms of interior decoration, the design style of the new car is simple and technologically tuned. the new car is equipped with a 10.25-inch full LCD meter and a 15.2-inch vertical central control screen. At the same time, the center console cancels a large number of physical keys and divides them into upper, middle and lower three areas, showing the application interface at the top, the menu in the middle, and the air-conditioning control area below. The screen also has a built-in Honda CONNECT 3.0 intelligence guidance interconnection system, which provides more than 20 functions such as AI voice assistant, car home interconnection, OTA upgrade and so on.

In terms of power, the new car is equipped with two different power motors, namely, the low-power motor of the maximum power 134kW and the high-power motor of the maximum power 150kW, while the battery capacity adopts the ternary lithium battery with the capacity of 68.8kWh jointly developed by Honda and Ningde era, and the maximum mileage under CLTC conditions is 420km and 510km respectively.

As we all know, Honda is relatively conservative in electrified transformation, but it has invested a lot in it. For example, in April this year, Honda said it would spend 8 trillion yen ($64 billion) on research and development over the next 10 years, including about 5 trillion yen ($40 billion) in electrification and software technology. Honda's corresponding "harvest" is not good. In terms of model product layout, Honda pinned its electric transformation on two domestic joint ventures (Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Auto Honda). In October 2021, Honda China officially launched the new pure electric car brand "eVV N", and said that it will launch 10 "eRover N Series" electric vehicles one after another in the next five years. From 2030, only pure electric and hybrid models will be sold in China, and no new fuel vehicles will be put into use.

For this year's specific model layout, Honda will launch new pure electric vehicles this year, one from Dongfeng Honda's e:NS1 and the other from Guangzhou Auto Honda's e:NP1 (the above-mentioned model), which were unveiled at the 2021 Wuhan Motor Show and the 2021 Guangzhou Motor Show respectively. As the two models are sister models to each other, there is little difference in appearance, interior decoration and power.

At present, Dongfeng Honda e:NP1, which is a sister to GAC Honda e:NS1, has been officially launched on April 26th. The new car is positioned as a small pure electric SUV, with a total of four models, with a subsidised price range of 175000-218000 yuan. In terms of power, the car provides two versions: e-version and e-dynamic version, in which the maximum power of e-version is 134kW, the pure electric mileage can reach 420km, and the maximum power of e-dynamic version is 150kW, the pure electric mileage can reach 510km under CLTC condition. It is worth noting that after the launch of the new car, the market performance is very mediocre. As Dongfeng Honda's first pure electric model, relevant data show that in May this year, the car sold 147 vehicles, with monthly sales of less than 200.

Among the competing models in the same class, the products with the same positioning as Dongfeng Honda e:NS1 and Guangzhou Automobile Honda e:NP1 include Volkswagen ID.4 series, Xiaopeng G3i, Zero run C11 and BYD's new energy models such as Yuan PLUS, Song PLUS and Song Pro. Among them, BYD Yuan PLUS has sold more than 10,000 cars for many months in a row. Honda obviously has a great challenge to rely on Dongfeng Honda e:NS1 and Guangzhou Automobile Honda e:NP1 to get a piece of the market. However, in spite of this, Honda also boldly put forward a larger goal. Honda China Minister Katsushi Inoue said in an interview: strive to sell 800000 pure electric vehicles by 2030. And pointed out: "if you can not win the competition in China, which is promoting electrification, it will be eliminated by the world." We will change all areas, and the outcome will be decided in the next five years. Judging from the sales volume of Dongfeng Honda's first model in the first month on the market, its market performance is really mediocre. As for the market performance of GAC Honda e:NP1 1 after its launch, let's let time tell us the answer. According to the auto industry's concern, according to the plan, by 2025, GAC Honda will launch a new car a year in the form of pure electric products, while the new energy plant will be completed and put into production in 2024.
