According to the announcement, Dongfeng Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has decided to recall a total of 31984 SPIRIOR cars made in 2011 between April 12, 2011 and January 4, 2014, starting from October 31, 2022.

The reason for this recall is that due to unreasonable welding process parameters in some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the internal relays in the steering control unit may fail after long-term use, resulting in steering system fault lights on and steering power failure, resulting in safety risks.

According to the announcement, the recall of Dongfeng Honda was carried out under the circumstances of defect investigation initiated by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. In view of the above defects, Dongfeng Honda Motor Co., Ltd. will inspect the steering control unit of the vehicle within the scope of the recall free of charge and replace the steering control unit confirmed to be improved in order to eliminate safety risks. Before the vehicle recall inspection, if the steering system fault lights up, the user should contact the nearest Dongfeng Honda authorized special sales service store for inspection and treatment.

According to the information reviewed by the automobile industry, Dongfeng Honda Platinum, as a flagship car produced by Dongfeng Motor, its development process is not profound. The domestic version of Spirui, which originated from the European version of Accord or Acura TSX, was officially released in 2009 and named SRIRIOR. The first-generation Spiegel entered the domestic market in 2009 and carried the Accord-like Honda LOGO, when the entry-level model sold for 255000.

Dongfeng Honda's new flagship sedan INSPIRE was officially launched in October 2018, with a total of seven models with a price range of 182800-249800 yuan, a 1.5T turbocharged engine, a maximum output power of 194 horsepower (5500rpm), a peak torque of 260 Nm (1600-5500rpm), and a CVT transmission. The hybrid model is equipped with a 2.0L engine and a dual-motor i-MMD hybrid system, which is consistent with the Accord. Sales of the INSPIRE, an alternative to Spencer, have not improved much since its launch, with cumulative sales of 56266 vehicles for the whole of 2019. Public data show that Dongfeng Honda sold 21840 INSPIRE vehicles in the first five months of this year, including 2047 in May.
