AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/11 Report--
The first half of the year is over, and major car companies have also released their sales reports for June. Due to the influence of the general environment, the sales performance of Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda in China shows an obvious polarized trend. According to statistics collected by the auto industry a few days ago, Toyota and Honda both achieved year-on-year growth in June, with both companies rising more than 19 per cent, while Nissan and Mazda fell year-on-year, with Mazda falling as much as 40.3 per cent.
As the head of a Japanese brand, Toyota sold 200100 new cars in China, up 19.2% from a year earlier, the first year-on-year growth in nearly three months. In terms of specific brands, Guangzhou Auto Toyota's sales rose 37.8% year-on-year to 100866 vehicles, while FAW Toyota increased 37.8% to 102000 vehicles.
According to sales figures released by GAC Toyota, it sold 100866 vehicles in June, up 37.8 per cent from a year earlier. Among them, Hanlanda sold 9145 vehicles, Sena sold 7230 vehicles, Camry sold 23714 vehicles, Wellanda sold 13517 vehicles, Leiling family sold 19564 vehicles and Feng Landa sold 11139 vehicles. And FAW Toyota, Rongfang, Lingfang two compact SUV sales of 24000 vehicles, Carola for nearly 40, 000.
Honda sold 141142 new cars in China in June, up 19.4% from a year earlier, making it the highest year-on-year increase among Japanese car companies. Among them, Guangzhou Auto Honda sold 70774 vehicles, Dongfeng Honda sold 70368 vehicles, and the sales of the two joint venture brands were almost similar. In terms of specific models, Guangzhou Auto Honda is responsible for the sales of Accord and Haoying, which are 21650 and 13154 respectively. Dongfeng Honda does not release sales figures, but the Civic and CR-V are expected to remain its best-selling models. In terms of new car layout, Dongfeng Honda will launch a total of 8 models in the second half of this year, including new Civic hybrid version, new Civic HATCHBACK, new Civic TYPE-R, new generation XR-V, new generation CR-V and a new SUV model, and so on. With the launch of more new cars, Honda is expected to bring new growth to Honda.
According to the official announcement, Honda's cumulative sales in China from January to June this year were 679227, down 13.6% from the same period last year, mainly due to the epidemic and tight supply chain. Honda's sales in China fell 30.8% in May to 89000 vehicles from a year earlier, with Honda growing for the first time in four months in June.
Let's take a look at Nissan. Unlike Toyota and Honda, Nissan's sales in China include passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Nissan sold 109051 new cars in China in June, down 4.8 per cent from a year earlier and the fourth consecutive month of negative growth, according to data. Of this total, passenger vehicles rose 0.6 per cent to 91867, the first year-on-year increase in 14 months from April 2021, but commercial vehicles fell sharply, falling 26.1 per cent to 17184.
From January to June this year, Nissan's cumulative sales in China were 546020 vehicles, down 22.7% from a year earlier. Of this total, Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan / Qichen / Infiniti) sold 448806 vehicles, down 22.0% from the same period last year. Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. is a key source of passenger car sales for Nissan's Chinese joint venture in China. From January to June, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. accumulated sales of 448806 vehicles in its passenger car sector (including Nissan, Qichen and Infiniti brands). Among them, Nissan sold a total of 400020 models, compared with more than 500000 in the same period last year, while Qichen sold 44685 models, up 31.0 percent from the same period last year. From the perspective of data, Qichen brand is gradually achieving growth after returning to the Nissan system.
As for Mazda, in June, Mazda sold 10145 new cars in China, down 40.3% from a year earlier, the largest decline of the four car companies. The decline may be related to the COVID-19 epidemic and parts shortage. It should be noted that this has been 15 consecutive months of negative growth in Mazda.
Mazda (China) officials have not released specific data on the models. Currently, Mazda's models sold in China include Onksera, Atez, CX-8, CX-5, CX-4 and CX-30/CX-30 EV. According to the past monthly sales performance, Mazda's sales in China mainly come from Oncella models, while sales by other car companies are very mediocre.
Since the withdrawal of FAW Mazda, Mazda mainly depends on Changan Mazda in the domestic market. Judging from the current performance of Mazda in China, Mazda wants to achieve growth or face greater challenges. It should be noted that Mazda has made it clear that it will readjust its brand positioning and gradually change to a luxury brand in the future. Jeremy Thomson, head of Mazda's UK, said: "Mazda's goal is to become a true luxury brand, so it does not intend to imitate high-end German brands, but will replace traditional mainstream luxury brands." According to Mazda's product plan, between 2022 and 2023, Mazda will launch a number of SUV products, including Mazda CX-50, Mazda CX-60, Mazda CX-70, Mazda CX-80 and Mazda CX-90. Starting from 2025, Mazda will launch a product line of EV dedicated platform and complete electrification of all models by 2030.
In addition, Mitsubishi Motors, one of the Japanese car companies, is not as big as Mazda. According to wholesale sales data disclosed by GAC GROUP, GAC-Mitsubishi sold 1806 vehicles in June, down 62.4% over the same period, and sold less than 2, 000 vehicles for three consecutive months. Cumulative sales from January to June this year were 13748, down 54.18% from a year earlier.
At present, GAC-Mitsubishi's models for sale include Olander, Xinjingxuan, Yige and the newly listed pure electric SUV Artuco, among which Oland is the main source of sales. in the first five months of this year, Olander sold 10093 vehicles, while the rest of the models sold less than 1,000 vehicles.
According to the latest data, domestic automobile production and sales completed 2.499 million and 2.502 million respectively in June, an increase of 28.2% and 23.8% respectively over the same period last year, of which 2.239 million and 2.222 million passenger cars were produced and sold, up 43.6% and 41.2% respectively. The relevant responsible person of the China Automobile Association pointed out that since June, the supply chain of the domestic automobile industry affected by the epidemic has been fully restored, and the domestic automobile market has performed well under the superposition of the national purchase tax halving policy and the local government policy of promoting automobile consumption. Judging from the market performance of Japanese car companies in China, Toyota and Honda have achieved year-on-year growth, but Nissan and Mazda have shown a clear decline.
