The new car, as the first model in the evolution of the Chery 4.0, was first exposed in July 2021. In November of the same year, the official spy photo of the new car was released and named "Xmuri C", and then it was officially unveiled under the official name "OMODA 5" at the Guangzhou Auto Show. On April 8 this year, Chery officially announced the Chinese name of "OMODA 5" as "O'Mengda", and the pre-sale began on June 8.
The new car uses a completely different design language from Chery's models, with a borderless front design and the latest double screen interior style. Specifically, the new car uses a new design language. The chassis adopts front McPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension.
In terms of competitive products, considering the positioning and price of new cars, Changan CS55 PLUS (vehicle price is 9.29-121900 yuan), Harvard Red Rabbit, Qichen Big V (vehicle price is 9.98-130800 yuan) and other models form market competition.
The auto industry has learned from Chery's official website that there are currently five models on sale under the Chery brand, namely Ruihu 8, Ruihu 7, Ruihu 3X, Ruihu 5X and Arize 5, with positioning covering small SUV, compact SUV, medium-sized SUV and compact cars. Among them, Ruihu 8 positioning medium-sized SUV, is also the only medium-sized SUV under the Chery brand, the price range is 8.48-161900 yuan; Ruihu 7 positioning compact SUV, price range 7.73-112900 yuan; Ruihu 3X positioning small SUV, price range 4.79-66900 yuan; Ruihu 5X positioning small SUV, price range 5.99-91900 yuan Arize 5PLUS positioning compact car, the price range is 5.99-85800 yuan.
From the point of view of Chery's product layout, Chery already has a relatively perfect SUV product line, from small SUV to medium-sized SUV, and in addition to the above-mentioned Chery Munda new car, Chery will launch a number of new cars this year, including Ruihu 8 Pro, Chery "M1E", Jetway Dasheng, Jetway TFX and Xingtuo Yufeng ET-i, Xingtuo Yaoguang production version and other new cars. As for whether the new car can help Chery achieve its sales target, it still needs more time and market performance to verify.
Data show that Chery's cumulative sales in 2021 were 656846 vehicles (including exports), an increase of 46.3 percent over the same period last year, of which Ruihu 8 sold 120684 vehicles, accounting for 18 percent of the brand's total sales. From January to June this year, Chery sold a total of 357429 vehicles, an increase of 25.9 per cent over the same period last year. Among them, Ruihu 8 series cumulative sales of 78292 vehicles. For this year's annual sales target, Chery has set 1.5 million to 2 million vehicles. According to the target of 1.5 million, Chery has achieved 23.8% of its target in the first half of this year, meaning that Chery may face greater pressure in the second half of the year.
