On July 25th, Changan Deep Blue SL03, the first new energy vehicle under Changan Automobile's brand, was officially launched. The new car has launched a total of four models, with a price range of 16.89 yuan to 699900 yuan. As the first model under the Deep Blue SL03 brand, the new car is based on Changan's new EPA1 pure electric platform and offers three versions: pure electric version, extended range version and hydrogen electric version, targeting medium-sized cars.

In terms of appearance, the design style of the new car and the passing model of Changan Automobile has changed greatly. The traditional "upper grille" design has been cancelled on the front face and replaced by the iconic closed grille of the new energy vehicle. The two sides are matched with the popular split headlamp group design. LED daytime driving lamps have a certain degree of recognition, and the most dazzling is that the LOGO style composed of three triangular planes is suspended in the middle of the front face of the new car. The overall appearance design is relatively younger. For different power versions, the overall design concept of the new car is basically the same, but there are some differences in details. For example, the blue coating representing hydrogen energy is used on the grille that surrounds the heat dissipation openings on both sides of the hydrogen electric version, while there is no difference in design between the extended range version and the pure electric version. On the side of the body, the new car uses the popular hatchback rear door design, as well as a hidden door handle, and the four rims are all designed with low wind resistance. In terms of body color, the new car will provide five kinds of metallic paints including Tianhe Blue, Nebula Blue, Moon Rock Ash, Comet White and Star Mine Black, as well as blue, white and gray matte paints. In the rear part, the new car adopts the popular penetrating taillight, which has a high degree of recognition after lighting, while the petal-shaped style is shown on both sides, which echoes with the front face design. The rear enclosure of the new car is equipped with rear diffuser decoration and two-stage fixed spoiler, the overall partial movement style.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4820/1890/1480mm, the wheelbase is 2900mm, and the positioning medium-sized electric car. From the body size point of view, both medium-sized cars, the new car size data slightly better than Tesla Model 3 and BYD seal.

In the interior part, the overall design of the new car is relatively simple, with two colors of Haoyu black and dawn powder, equipped with a full liquid crystal dashboard, a double-spoke multi-function square plate and a 14.6-inch suspended central control multimedia display. In configuration, Changan Deep Blue SL03 is equipped with intelligent vehicle domain controller Changan smart core and intelligent cockpit domain controller (Qualcomm 8155 chip), and supports vehicle OTA upgrade.

Power is the biggest highlight of the new car, the new car uses a variety of different forms of drive system, including pure electric, extended range version and hydrogen electric version. Among them, the pure electric version provides two motor versions, 160kW and 190kW, which match the battery packs of different capacity, and the comprehensive mileage of the extended version is 515km and 712km respectively; the extended version is equipped with a drive system based on 1.5L engine and motor, and the comprehensive mileage of the system is 1200km under pure electric mode under the condition of 200km; also under the CLTC condition, the range of the hydrogen version can reach 700km.

According to previous reports concerned by the automobile industry, Changan Automobile officially launched the Changan Deep Blue New Energy vehicle brand on April 13, 2022. On April 23, Changan Automobile officially announced its new brand Changan Deep Blue LOGO, and confirmed that the new model "C385" was named after "Changan Deep Blue SL03".

As a medium-sized car, the new car competitors include Tesla Model 3, BYD Seal and other models, of which Tesla Model 3 sells for 29.09-367900 yuan, and BYD Seal pre-sells 21.28-289800 yuan. In contrast, the price of new cars starting from 168900 yuan is more advantageous, and netizens even have the saying that "the new car is the ceiling of 200000 electric cars." Overall, the price range of new cars is relatively large between different models, which is also relatively rare in the industry. from the perspective of market development, it is expected that the new car volume models will be pure electric version and extended-range version, while the hydrogen electric version at the price of 700000 may be specially built to cover the race track.

In fact, at present, there are not many new energy products worth about 200000 yuan, and from the perspective of vehicle range, the price of models with a range of about 500km is generally up in 200000, such as the price of Xiaopeng P5510E is 206900; the price of models with range of more than 700km is about 270000, such as the price of 269800 yuan for the pioneer honor model of BYD EV Genesis 715KM. According to official figures, the number of new cars has exceeded 10,000 within 33 minutes of the launch. Of course, although the starting price of Changan Deep Blue SL03 model has a slight advantage, but as a latecomer, it remains to be seen whether it will eventually be recognized by consumers.

Public data show that Changan Automobile sold 1125764 vehicles in the first half of the year, reaching 45.9 per cent of its annual sales target of 2.45 million vehicles. The cumulative sales of new energy vehicles is 85000, achieving 42.5% of the annual sales target of 200000 new energy vehicles, most of which comes from Mercedes-Benz E-star, but due to the shortage of upstream raw materials and vehicle and spare parts capacity constraints, Mercedes-Benz E-Star models have been suspended. As for the newcomers, whether Changan Deep Blue SL03 can be the main force of Changan new energy plate still needs more time to verify.
