A black BYD Han EV caught fire on the road near the Mumian Bay subway station in Longgang, Shenzhen, in the evening of Aug. 1. the damage to the vehicle is unknown, and the cause of the fire has yet to be officially announced.

According to the scene footage obtained by the Tramway report, Han EV was initially parked in the middle of the road, and the hood of the car was opened and smoke was continuously emitted. It is said that the smoke lasted for 30 minutes, while firefighters rushed to the scene before the fire to dredge the vehicles at the scene and evacuate onlookers.

Subsequently, the Han EV chassis position began to emit strong flames, firefighters used water guns to suppress, a lot of smoke appeared in the process of fighting the fire, but because the fire was located in the chassis position, it did not seem easy to put out, and soon the fire penetrated into the rear cockpit, and after the first fire fighting, the Han EV chassis appeared to reignite, and firefighters carried out the second fire fighting again. From the picture, the position of the chassis and the rear cockpit of the vehicle were seriously damaged, and the main parts may have been scrapped. The vehicle was later transferred from the fire brigade to the traffic police brigade for investigation.

Since the fire broke out in the evening and during the rush hour, it is said that the fire in Han EV caused congestion on Longgang Avenue for several hours. As for the cause of the fire, as of press time, the brand concerned has not responded to the relevant fire accident, and the cause of the accident has yet to be investigated and notified.

Han is a flagship BYD model, positioning medium and large cars, officially launched in July 2020, the burning vehicle is the 2022 Han EV, which went on sale in April 2022, with a price range of 26.98-329800 yuan. Data show that in the first half of the year, BYD retail 633800 new energy vehicles, of which 97000 are Han retail, ranking first among domestic medium and large vehicles, leading the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class models.
