The change in the appearance and shape of the new Tanyue is still obvious. The double front face modeling has a certain degree of recognition. Xuan Yue and Tan Yue X adjust the chain details inside the front grille to X-shaped elements, the front encirclement adopts a similar "fangs" design, the Lanyue GTE adopts a dot matrix design, and the front encirclement adopts a more sleek design. In addition, the forward gas grille and the headlight groups on both sides are integrated to form an integrated shape, and a penetrating LED light belt is added between the headlight groups, and the front sign also has a luminous effect, which will improve the sense of science and technology to a certain extent.

On the side of the car body, the new Tan Yue and Tan Yue GTE adopt the through waistline design, while the Tan Yue X uses the Coupe back shape. Compared with the front face, the change in the shape of the new Tanyue tail is more obvious. The taillight group is completely designed, replaced with the more popular penetrating design, and the X-shaped luminous structure is used inside the lamp group on both sides. It is also matched with a new luminous rear car logo. At the same time, the Tan Yue English alphabet is also adjusted to the lower part of the car mark. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4592/1860/1669mm and wheelbase 2731mm respectively.

In terms of interior decoration, the new Tan Yue adds a 12-inch suspended central control screen, and the steering wheel also uses the latest three-spoke styling and is replaced with touch buttons, which does have some room for improvement compared with the old models. At the same time, due to the adjustment of the installation mode of the central control screen, and the overall central console is also more inclined to the driver's side, the front part of the new Tanyue co-pilot cancels the integrated panel design and adds some leather parcels and stitches.

In terms of power, the new Tan Yue is still equipped with 1.4T and 2.0T engines, of which 1.4T has the maximum power of 110kW (150hp), the maximum torque is 250N ·m, the high and low power of 2.0T is 137kW (186hp) and 162kW (220hp), and the peak torque is 320N m and 350N m respectively. In terms of transmission system, it is matched by a 7-speed wet double clutch transmission.

October 2018, FAW-Volkswagen second domestic SUV Tanyue officially launched, the new car launched a total of 10 models, the price range of 18.88-319800 yuan. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.0T high-power engine of CUG and a 2.0T low-power engine of DBF, with maximum power of 162kW (220hp) and 137kW (186hp) respectively, matched by a seven-speed DSG double clutch transmission. In April 2020, Tanyue GTE was officially listed with a price range of 24.98-259800 yuan. The new car is equipped with a mixing system composed of 1.4T engine and motor. In July 2020, Tanyue X officially went on sale, and the new car is based on Tanyue, with a price range of 23.58-295800 yuan.

As a medium-sized SUV of FAW-Volkswagen, Tanyue and SAIC-Volkswagen Touguan L are sister models to each other, and this release is a mid-term modification of Tanyue. In August 2021, SAIC-Volkswagen's new Tuguan family officially launched, among which Tuguan L launched six models with a price range of 21.58-281800 yuan, Tuguan L PHEV launched two models with a price range of 25.78-268800 yuan, and Tuguan X launched five models with a price range of 24.19-293900 yuan. As a medium-term revamped model, the appearance and interior of the Tuguan L / Tuguan X are replaced with the latest family design language, the power continues the cash 1.4T and 2.0T engines, and provides plug-in hybrid models. From the market point of view, the competitive products of Tanyue include Tuguan L (217800-283800 yuan), Buick Ankewei (209900-309900 yuan), Toyota Weisa (216800-303,800 yuan) and Honda Crown Road (248-3328 yuan).

In terms of sales volume, Tuguan L sold 60076 vehicles in the first half of the year, 49988 in Tanyue, 38209 in Oncoway, 19461 in Lingfang HARRIER and 19848 in Guandao. With the release of the medium-term revamped model, the new Tanyue is younger and fashionable in appearance and interior, which increases its production power compared to cash, and with the debut of the new car, it is not expected to be too far from the official launch time.
