As a mid-term revamped model, the new car is mainly redesigned for appearance, and part of the configuration is also upgraded to the whole department standard.

In terms of appearance, Tan Yue and Tan Yue X adjust the chain details inside the front grille to X-shaped elements, the front enclosure adopts a similar "fangs" design, while Tan Yue GTE uses a dot matrix design, and the front enclosure adopts a more sleek design. In addition, the forward gas grille and the headlight groups on both sides are integrated to form an integrated shape, and a penetrating LED light belt is added between the headlight groups, and the front sign also has a luminous effect, which will improve the sense of science and technology to a certain extent.

On the side of the car body, the new Tan Yue and Tan Yue GTE adopt the through waistline design, while the Tan Yue X uses the Coupe back shape. Compared with the front face, the change in the shape of the new Tanyue tail is more obvious. The taillight group is completely designed, replaced with the more popular penetrating design, and the X-shaped luminous structure is used inside the lamp group on both sides. It is also matched with a new luminous rear car logo. At the same time, the Tan Yue English alphabet is also adjusted to the lower part of the car mark. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4592/1860/1669mm and wheelbase 2731mm respectively.

In terms of interior decoration, the new Tan Yue adds a 12-inch suspended central control screen, and the steering wheel also uses the latest three-spoke styling and is replaced with touch buttons, which does have some room for improvement compared with the old models. At the same time, due to the adjustment of the installation mode of the central control screen, and the overall central console is also more inclined to the driver's side, the front part of the new Tanyue co-pilot cancels the integrated panel design and adds some leather parcels and stitches.

In terms of power, the new Tan Yue is still equipped with 1.4T and 2.0T engines, of which 1.4T has the maximum power of 110kW (150hp), the maximum torque is 250N ·m, the high and low power of 2.0T is 137kW (186hp) and 162kW (220hp), and the peak torque is 320N m and 350N m respectively. In terms of transmission system, it is matched by a 7-speed wet double clutch transmission.

Tanyue is one of the best-selling models of FAW-Volkswagen, and it is also one of the best-selling SUV models in the market, but it has been complained by users for many months before. The main complaints include engine exhaust failure and high fuel consumption, among which engine exhaust failure and high engine fuel consumption are concentrated complaints by car owners. Many car owners reported that the blocking fuel consumption of Tanyue particle trap was too high, resulting in vehicle acceleration failure and increasing fuel consumption. Shift gears, setbacks, and so on.

Particle trap, also known as gasoline engine particle trap (Gasoline Particulate Filter, hereinafter referred to as "GPF"), its function is to capture carbon particles and other small particles before they enter the atmosphere, so as to meet national or local emission standards. It is understood that GPF can capture more than 90% of the soot produced by the engine. After the adsorption amount of particles reaches a certain degree, it can burn at high speed and become harmless carbon dioxide emissions.

To put it simply, GPF is equivalent to wearing a mask to the engine exhaust system to filter the tiny particles in the exhaust. When it reaches a certain stock, it will automatically burn the captured particles, thus achieving cycle work. Since the implementation of the national six emission standards, FAW-Volkswagen has chosen to install GPF for this product in order to meet the emission requirements.

It is understood that Tanyue is the second domestic SUV model launched by FAW-Volkswagen after the compact SUV T-ROC in October 2018, with a price range of 18.88-319800 yuan. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.0T high-power engine of CUG and a 2.0T low-power engine of DBF, with maximum power of 162kW (220hp) and 137kW (186hp) respectively, matched by a seven-speed DSG double clutch transmission. In April 2020, Tanyue GTE was officially listed with a price range of 24.98-259800 yuan. The new car is equipped with a mixing system composed of 1.4T engine and motor. In July 2020, Tanyue X officially went on sale, and the new car is based on Tanyue, with a price range of 23.58-295800 yuan.

Tanyue soon became popular with consumers, with sales of 20235 vehicles in its two months on the market in 2018 and 179428 in 2019, but sales fell to 168445 in 2020 due to the epidemic. After entering 2021, Tanyue may be affected by a shortage of chips, coupled with the impact of particle traps, the market performance is not very good, with a cumulative sales of 89339 vehicles for the whole year and 44519 vehicles in the first half of 2022.
