Today, Mr. Sun, a Mercedes-Benz GLC owner in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, reflected to the media that the Mercedes-Benz GLC he bought had a serious oil-burning engine fault in only two years. After communicating with the 4S store for many times, he proposed to change the engine or recycle the vehicle at a price higher than the market price, but the 4S store did not take action to replace the engine and did not agree to the plan to recycle the vehicle at a high price.

On August 7, 2020, Mr. Sun bought a Mercedes-Benz GLC 260L in Yuyao Ciji Star, Ningbo, with a vehicle price of about 350000 on arrival. However, during the two-year period of the purchase, the dashboard of the car frequently popped up requiring refueling. According to Mr. Sun's description, when the vehicle was driving 4000 kilometers, there was a prompt on the dashboard to add 1.4 liters of oil, and then Mr. Sun contacted the 4S store to ask for the vehicle to be repaired, but the 4S store did not respond. After filling up the engine oil, the problem has not been solved.

On June 19, 2021, the total mileage of the vehicle was more than 5000 kilometers, and the calibration measurement of oil consumption of 1000 kilometers was made, and the dashboard showed that 0.4 liters of engine oil needed to be filled to the highest level. In August 2021, when the vehicle drove for a year, with a total mileage of more than 7000 kilometers, Mr. Sun went to the 4S store for first insurance and asked questions about oil calibration, but did not get a response from the 4S store. It just claims to meet Mercedes-Benz oil burning standards-more than 0.8 liters per thousand kilometers.

The same problem lasted until June this year, when the vehicle was again prompted to add oil, and then Mr. Sun went to the 4S store again. After testing, the endoscope found that the engine was seriously burning oil, carbon and oil in the cylinder, and serious engine damage such as organic oil in the gas pipe.

In response to this problem, the 4S store verbally promised 99% to change the engine, but has not taken any action to change the engine. As a result, Mr. Sun proposed to either replace the engine or recycle the vehicle at a price higher than the market price.

4S store admitted vehicle defects, but in response to Mr. Sun's request, 4S store staff said that there will always be a few problems with each product after a large number of shipments, which is no way to avoid it, and is currently actively negotiating to solve the problem. However, Mr Sun's request to recycle vehicles at a price higher than the market price is unacceptable. The staff of the 4S store pointed out that the purchase price of the vehicle is 340000 and has been open for two years, and it is acceptable to add tens of millions of yuan to the recycled vehicle. Mr. Sun proposed that the recovery price is as high as 390000 yuan is very unreasonable. According to the assessment, Mr. Sun's second-hand car is probably worth less than 300000 yuan, so it cannot meet Mr. Sun's demands.

So far, the two sides have not reached an agreement on the above incident. Mr. Sun said that the 4S store has not given a suitable plan, while the 4S store said that it wants to actively deal with the matter through legal channels.

According to car concern, Mercedes-Benz GLC is one of the most important models in Mercedes-Benz product lineup, and it is also the sales pillar of the brand in recent years. From 2019 to 2021, Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 142857 vehicles, 160900 vehicles and 140049 vehicles, respectively, and from January to July this year, Mercedes-Benz GLC sold 85559 vehicles, according to the wholesale sales of Mercedes-Benz.

The data show that Mercedes-Benz GLC can be regarded as the coupe version of GLK in essence. The GLK class of Mercedes-Benz made its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in 2008 and has since been introduced into the Chinese market by way of import. In April 2012, Beijing Mercedes-Benz listed the GLK class domestically, with a price range of 40.8-557000 yuan, all equipped with 3.0L engines. In 2014, the domestic Mercedes-Benz GLK launched 2.0T models to lower the entry threshold, which became the sales burden of Beijing Mercedes-Benz. In 2015, the Mercedes-Benz GLK carried out an iterative upgrade, and Beijing Mercedes-Benz changed its name to GLC (X253). Since then, the GLC sedan and AMG GLC models have been added, and the Mercedes-Benz GLCs have once again become the best-selling models of Beijing Mercedes-Benz. In November 2018, Beijing Mercedes-Benz lengthened its GLC and named it "GLC L". In August 2019, the mid-term modified Mercedes-Benz GLC L went on sale at a price of 39.28-587800 yuan, and was replaced with a brand new M264 engine. At present, the Mercedes-Benz GLC sells for 40.63-476800 yuan, while the new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC has completed its application in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the new car is expected to go on sale this year. As a volume model, Mercedes-Benz GLC sold a total of 72700 vehicles in the first half of this year, according to the insurance figures.
