AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)08/25 Report--
On August 24, Beijing Mercedes-Benz EQE officially launched three new models with a price range of 52.8-585000 yuan, which will compete with Xilai ET7 after listing.
Comprehensive automotive industry concern previously reported that the new car is based on the new generation of Mercedes-Benz EVA platform and uses the same platform as Mercedes-Benz EQS, so the new car continues the simple design style of EQS models in appearance and interior, with a small EQS style as a whole. In terms of appearance, the front face is designed with a fully enclosed grille, which is popular in pure electric models, the headlights are integrated with China net, which is made of a whole black panel with Mercedes-Benz's iconic logo inside. The overall shape of the side of the body is round and full. in terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4969/1906/1509mm, the wheelbase is 3120mm, and the positioning of medium and large pure electric cars. In the rear part, the rear part of the new car uses through-type taillights, the rear surround is decorated with chrome-plated strips, and below is a decorative panel similar to the shape of a diffuser.
In the interior part, the new car does not have a standard MBUX super-connected screen, but instead has a 12.3-inch full LCD dashboard and a 12.8-inch vertical suspended central control screen, and the multi-function steering wheel uses a three-spoke design. In terms of power, the three new models are single-motor rear-drive models, permanent magnet synchronous motor maximum power 215kW, maximum torque 530N ·m, zero acceleration 6.7s. The new car is also equipped with a NCM811 battery pack with a capacity of 96.1kWh, which lasts for 712km and 752km respectively under CLTC conditions.
As far as the BBA market is concerned, at present, the three German luxury brands of Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have all accelerated the pace of electrification, but the Mercedes-Benz brand is advancing faster in the electrified transformation. Judging from the layout of BBA in medium and large pure electric SUV products, neither BMW nor Audi has launched products that can compete with Mercedes-Benz EQE. according to the plan, the all-electric BMW 5-Series is expected to be released in the spring of 2023; Audi A6L pure electric version of Audi E6L Limousine is expected to be launched at the end of 2023. Considering the positioning and price of Mercedes-Benz EQE, Mercedes-Benz EQE will compete with the ET7 model. As a comparison, the price range of the large flagship car located by Lailai ET7 is 45.8-536000 yuan. It is equipped with the power combination of permanent magnet synchronous motor before 180kW and AC induction motor after 300kW. The comprehensive power output of the system is 480kw, the peak torque is 850N ·m, and the acceleration time of 100km is 3.8s. The battery pack of 70kWh, 100kWh and 150kWh is equipped with 500km, 700km and 1000 km under comprehensive conditions.
Since 2019, Mercedes-Benz has introduced four pure electric models, namely, EQA, EQB, EQC and EQS. EQC, the first all-electric model of Mercedes-Benz, went on sale in China on November 8, 2019. The car is based on the fuel version of GLC and costs 49.98-579800 yuan. The EQA and EQB are products launched by Mercedes-Benz in 2021, with a price of 365800 yuan for EQA and 437800 yuan for EQB, but all three models are gas-to-electric models. On December 17 of the same year, Mercedes-Benz EQS officially launched four models with a price range of 107.96-1.5186 million yuan. Different from EQA, EQB and EQC models, Mercedes-Benz EQS positioning luxury large pure electric car is a real pure electric platform to build electric vehicles.
Although Mercedes-Benz has launched a number of pure electric car products in the electric car field, the model sales are dismal. Data show that from January to July this year, the cumulative sales of EQA, EQB and EQC were 2375, 3017 and 2488 respectively, with an average monthly sales of only 300-400 vehicles. On May 19 this year, Mercedes-Benz announced its new product strategic plan. Mercedes-Benz said that it would replan its product matrix and divide the existing models into three major product matrices: high-end luxury, core luxury and new-generation luxury. The core luxury product lineup includes the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class families and their derivative models, which will be the most important source of sales for the Mercedes-Benz brand in the future. The sales performance of basic EQA, EQB, EQC and other models is not ideal, so it is generally believed that the new model EQE may become the main model of the core luxury lineup of Mercedes-Benz brand.
Data show that in the first half of this year, Mercedes-Benz delivered a total of 985200 new cars worldwide, of which 355800 were delivered in China, down 24.1% from a year earlier, ranking between BMW and Audi. As for electrification, data show that global sales of Mercedes-Benz pure electric and plug-in hybrid models totaled 67800 in the first quarter of this year, up 37 per cent from a year earlier, accounting for 15 per cent of total sales. Of these, the cumulative global sales of pure electric vehicles were 21900, up 210 per cent from the same period last year, and the cumulative global sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 45900, up 8 per cent from the same period last year. In addition, official figures show that Mercedes-Benz-EQ products grew by 28% month-on-month in the second quarter. According to the plan, Mercedes-Benz will launch 21 new products this year, including eight pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, which will be fully transformed into pure electric models by 2030.
