On September 1, DPCA announced a "good report" on August sales. The latest sales figures show that DPCA delivered 10081 new cars in August 2022, growing for 21 consecutive months compared with the same period last year; a total of 76476 vehicles were delivered from January to August in 2022, an increase of 43 per cent over the same period last year. DPCA has completed 45 per cent of its annual sales of 170000 vehicles in 2022.

After entering 2022, DPCA's performance in the domestic market showed an obvious recovery trend, and successively launched Dongfeng Peugeot brand new 4008 enjoy version, Dongfeng Citroen Versaillon C5X open door red version, Dongfeng Citroen 2022 C6 co-creation version, Dongfeng Citroen Versaillon C5X FM version, Dongfeng Fukang ES600 and Dongfeng Peugeot brand new 4008 dazzling night version and other models in the past August. DPCA listed Dongfeng Citroen Tianya BEYOND and Dongfeng Peugeot's new 408s respectively. Among them, Dongfeng Peugeot 408is Peugeot's first global model launched in China, with monthly sales of more than 5000 vehicles when it first launched in 2010. since then, the second-generation model with 1.2T three-cylinder engine has kept its sales in the doldrums. The new generation of models is a replacement model, which is mainly aimed at upgrading the appearance, interior and power. In power, the 1.2T three-cylinder engine carried by the old model is cancelled, and the whole system is equipped with 1.6T turbocharged engine. Compared with the old model, the price has been reduced by 30, 000 to 10, 57-121700 yuan. The new 408 is also the first model of Dongfeng Peugeot brand Huanxin to use the new Lion Standard in China. It is regarded as another popular model under DPCA after the Versailles C5X. It is not clear whether the new 408 model can bring growth to brand sales after the major adjustment.

As a representative of French cars, Shenlong Automobile Co., Ltd. was established on May 18, 1992, jointly funded by Dongfeng Motor and Peugeot Citroen Group. DPCA owns two major brands, Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen. Data show that sales of Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen increased by 42.22% and 14.29% in 2014.

At present, Dongfeng Peugeot products on sale include Peugeot 408, Peugeot 508L, Peugeot 2008, Peugeot E2008, Peugeot 4008, Peugeot 5008 and so on. In July, for example, Peugeot 4008 sold 1612, Peugeot 2008 1061, Peugeot 408 1035, the rest of the models less than 500, and even Peugeot 4008 PHEV only one.

Dongfeng Citroen is another brand of DPCA, and its products on sale include Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS, new C3-XR, Versailles C5X, C6 and other models. Like Dongfeng Peugeot, there are not many models that sell well. In July, for example, the Versailles C5X sold 4755; Tianya C5AIRCROSS sold 374; Citroen C6 sold 242; and Tianyi C5AIRCROSS PHEV only 5, which is a big difference from Versailles C5X.

Judging from the two major brand products of DPCA, although DPCA's sales have improved in recent months, it is subdivided into brand models. In fact, DPCA has only one popular model, Versailles C5X. According to statistics, as of July, the cumulative sales of Versailles C5X this year was 24437, accounting for 36.8% of the total sales. That is to say, most of the current sales of DPCA come from Versailles C5X. However, DPCA relies solely on Versailles C5X, a popular model, to achieve annual sales of 170000 vehicles, which is still quite difficult for the current DPCA. It also means that DPCA needs to launch more popular products to help it meet its annual sales target.

As a representative of French models, DPCA also had a brief highlight moment. DPCA sold more than 700000 vehicles for two consecutive years in 2014 and 2015, and successfully joined the first-tier joint venture brand camp. Statistics show that DPCA sold 704800 cars in 2015, but has fallen directly off the altar since the sales ceiling of 705000 in 2015. Zhang Xiang, an auto industry analyst, once said that DPCA had a brief highlight sales performance, on the one hand, with the help of the "major trend" of the overall rapid development of China's auto market, and on the other hand, China and France introduced a lot of excellent products. however, as the growth rate of China's automobile market slows down, quality, service and other factors become new content that users pay attention to, DPCA has stagnated.

In recent years, the performance of DPCA in the domestic market has been in the doldrums and showed an obvious downward trend. Data show that DPCA sales fell by 15.2%, 36.85%, 32.89%, 55.17% and 55.74% respectively from 2016 to 2020. In particular, sales fell off a cliff for two consecutive years in 2019 and 2020, of which only more than 50, 000 cars were sold in 2020. At that time, the market share of French cars in China was less than 3%.

In the face of the sharp decline in sales, DPCA has also tried to "save itself", including launching a "yuan" recovery plan in 2019 and a "yuan +" plan in 2020, with little success. It was not until the launch of Versailles C5X in 2021 that DPCA's sales showed an obvious growth trend. DPCA's annual sales returned to 100000 in 2021, but compared with the record sales of 705000 in 2015, 100000 still looks a little negligible. In addition, at present, most of the products of DPCA are still based on fuel vehicles, and new energy has become a major trend. in this context, the performance of DPCA products in the future still needs to be observed.
