On the evening of Sept. 5, Skyworth HT-i, a brand new model of Skyworth, was officially launched. The new car is positioned as an entry-level medium-sized SUV with a total of 7 models with a price range of 146800-242800 yuan.

Skyworth HT-i is the second model of Skyworth after Skyworth EV6. As a brand new model, the biggest highlight of the new car is equipped with BYD DM-i superhybrid system, maximum power 81kW, peak torque 135N ·m, using EHS electric hybrid system powertrain, the highest pure electric battery 200km, comprehensive battery life 1267km, the lowest power loss and fuel consumption as low as 5.3L/ 100 km.

In terms of appearance, the new car continues to use the design style of Skyworth EV6, the front face uses a frameless middle grid and the front surround each other, the headlights on both sides and the through air intake below can be elongated in the visual effect, with brand logo in the middle, the overall recognition is high. On the side of the body, the new car has strong lines, and the fast and slow charging interfaces are located on the main driving side. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4698/1908/1696mm, wheelbase is 2800mm, positioning medium-sized SUV. In the rear part, the new car taillight adopts the popular through-type taillight, and the bottom is surrounded by a relatively shallow color matching, which forms a difference in the visual effect. The English name "SKYWORTH" of the brand is embedded inside the taillight to enhance the recognition of the whole vehicle.

In the interior part, the new car is equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument and a 12.8-inch central control screen, and designs a whole row of traditional physical keypads. The new car also uses a shift knob to enhance the scientific and technological feel of the interior.

Skyworth Automobile, as a new energy vehicle brand, is backed by Kaiwo Group. As early as in 2011, Skyworth Group Chairman Huang Hongsheng reorganized Xiamen Jinlong and Nanjing Dongyu Automobile Group, established Kaiwo Automobile and began to layout the new energy vehicle market, and obtained the passenger car access qualification approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2017. finally established Timi Motors in 2019.

According to the data, Jiangsu Tianmei Automobile Co., Ltd. was established on November 1, 2019. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kaiwo New Energy. The Tianmei automobile brand logo has been constructed with the central letter "W" of "Skywell". On October 8 of the following year, Timi ET5, the first model of Timi, was officially listed with a price range of 15.28-198800 yuan. The power was equipped with the Skylink intelligent network connection system jointly developed by Timi and Skyworth. As Timi's first model, sales of the new car ET5 were dismal after its launch. Data show that ET5 sold only 595 vehicles in the first half of the year.

Due to the lack of brand awareness and considerations based on fierce competition in the car market, Timi officially changed its name to Skyworth on April 27th, 2021, and upgraded the first model of Timi ET5, the new car was renamed Skyworth ET5 after upgrading, and the vehicle tail mark will be updated from Timi's English name "Skywell" to Skyworth Group's English name "Skyworth". Then, on July 27th, Skyworth changed its name to Skyworth ET5 and listed it. The new car launched a total of four models with a price of 15.28-249800 yuan. The main change is the optimization of configuration and battery, but after a series of changes, Skyworth EV6 sales performance is still very mediocre. Data show that in the past six months, Skyworth EV6 accumulated sales of 13561 vehicles, with an average monthly sales of about 1130 vehicles, of which from February to July this year, sales were 1016, 1232, 1074, 1261, 1280 and 1257 respectively, with a total sales of only 7120 vehicles in half a year.

It should be noted that in early February this year, Skyworth announced on its website that Skyworth aims to achieve its global annual sales target of 30,000 units through domestic and foreign channels in 2022. However, from the current Skyworth EV6 cumulative sales of half a year, half a year is not more than 10,000, Skyworth cars want to achieve the annual sales target of 30, 000 is more difficult.

At present, Skyworth only has Skyworth EV6 for sale, but it is not clear whether Skyworth HT-i, a new hybrid model, can boost Skyworth's sales after its launch. According to Skyworth's previously announced 1-3-3-3 strategy, Skyworth plans to sell 250000 units a year by 2025 and 500000 by 2030.
