Cumulative sales from January to August this year were 859110, a slight increase of 5 per cent over the same period last year. So far, according to Geely's annual sales target of 1.65 million vehicles in 2022 at the beginning of this year, it has achieved 52% of this year's annual sales target.
In terms of specific brands, Geely brand sales rose 17 per cent year-on-year to 95992 vehicles in August, of which geometry brand sales rose 230 per cent to 17489 vehicles; from January to August, Geely brand sales increased 1 per cent to 693460 vehicles. Among them, the cumulative sales of Geometry brands increased by 255% to 85603 vehicles. For the Lecker brand, Lecker rose 150% year-on-year to 15098 vehicles in August, although it has eased somewhat compared with July, but cumulative sales are still showing a downward trend, with cumulative sales of only 107363 vehicles from January to August, down 19% from the same period last year. The polar krypton brand sold 7166 vehicles in August and a cumulative sales of 31198 vehicles from January to August. In terms of new energy vehicles, Geely sold 28000 pure electric vehicles in August, up 429 per cent from a year earlier, while sales in the first eight months of this year totaled 136000, up 465 per cent from a year earlier. In addition, the data show that Geely's overseas market continues to rise, with sales growing sharply in August compared with the previous month, becoming a new engine of Geely's sales growth.
From the above data, Geely car new energy brand growth is more obvious, but the overall sales base is still not high. Among them, the sales volume of Lecker brand increased significantly in August compared with the same period last year, but the decline was particularly obvious from January to August this year, and the decline was largely due to the impact of the epidemic and chip shortage in the first half of the year. In addition, the new energy market is also the focus of Geely's efforts. It was previously reported that Geely increased its investment in electric R & D in the first half of this year, up 71.7 per cent from the same period last year to 3.63 billion yuan. In the future, the pace of comprehensive transformation of new energy will be further accelerated, and monthly sales of new energy vehicles will account for more than 30% in the second half of the year.
With the release of more new cars in the second half of the year, there is still a lot of uncertainty about how much driving effect Geely will bring to Geely. Previously, due to the epidemic and chip shortage, Geely has failed to achieve the set sales target for two years in a row. Judging from the current market performance, Geely will also face greater pressure in the second half of the year.
