The Citroen Versaillon C5X was officially launched on September 23, 2021. The new car is based on the CXperience concept car. It is a new medium-sized cross-border car under the Dongfeng Citroen brand. The new car is manufactured in China and supplied to the global market.

In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the latest family-style design of Citroen, the active intake grille adopts through-type design, and is connected to the split LED daytime driving lights on both sides, and the split daytime driving lights are V-shaped, forming an "X" shape with the front face to form an integrated shape. From the side point of view, the side shape of the new car is relatively smooth, the roof line begins to sink slightly from the A column, and the raised waistline on the side of the new car is matched with the black eyebrows below, which makes the new car look more dynamic. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4805/1865/1505mm and the wheelbase is 2785mm.

In terms of interior decoration, the Versailles C5X uses an asymmetrical central console, a full LCD dashboard and a 12-inch suspended central control screen, with some physical buttons at the bottom, and the central aisle area is equipped with a push-button electronic shift mechanism. Of course, the large-size central control screen also has many human-computer interaction functions, and equipped with C-Connect vehicle entertainment information system, Bluetooth, voice recognition control. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 1.6T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 125kw and a peak torque of 250N ·m, which matches the eight-speed manual self-integrated transmission from Aixin.

At present, the Versailles C5X is the main sales model of Dongfeng Citroen and even DPCA. According to retail sales in August, Dongfeng Citroen currently has five models on sale, including 3527 Versailles C5X models and less than 1,000 other models. In addition, Dongfeng Peugeot's highest-selling model is 408. the new 408 went on sale on August 21, with a price range of 10.57 yuan to 121700 yuan, which may be affected by the revised model. Peugeot sold 1697 vehicles in the month, making it Dongfeng Peugeot's best-selling model, but lower than the Versailles C5X.

However, as we all know, although the Japanese automobile industry is developed, local brands such as Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Subaru occupy 90% of the Japanese market share. Whether German or American, it is difficult to find a development direction in this market. According to the data, Citroen sold 227 vehicles in Japan in August, up 3.7 per cent from a year earlier, with sales of 3121 vehicles from January to August, down 26.1 per cent from a year earlier, accounting for only 0.1 per cent of the total Japanese auto market. For the Japanese home market, the Chinese-made Citroen Versailles C5X is a good imported car, and it makes sense that the price is much higher than the domestic market. However, Japanese consumers have a fondness for local brands, and in this context, especially Chinese-made models, there may not be a good market response in the Japanese market.
