Foreign media reported that BMW will switch to electrification and reduce fuel version in the future. although the above-mentioned new generation of BMW X4 has an internal code name G46, it is not expected to produce the product in the future. instead, it will produce its pure electric version of the new generation iX4, and the new generation of iX4, internal code name NA7, will be released from the BMW plant in Hungary in November 2026.

The current BMW X4 is based on the CLAR platform, perhaps considering that the current BMW X4 will stop production in the next few years, the new generation of BMW iX4 models will be based on the new Neue Klasse platform, that is, a platform dedicated to BMW pure electric models, and use the sixth generation battery system. It is expected that the new generation battery system will cancel the square shell design and replace it with a new cylindrical shape. This may mean that the vehicle's mileage and charging speed can be further improved.
