Polestar 6 (the original concept car Polestar O2), the first all-electric convertible sports car owned by Ji Xing, was launched in the domestic market on Sept. 18. The number of new cars is limited to 500 units worldwide, of which there are only 10 cars in the Chinese market and the pre-price is 1.68 million yuan. According to officials, the future Polestar 6 will be mass-produced entirely based on the Polestar O2 concept car, which will be based on a new self-developed all-aluminum bonding platform and will be officially launched in 2026.

The new car is positioned as a pure electric convertible sports car. in terms of appearance, the concept version of the new car adopts the latest design language of the Polar family, and the front face of the new car cancels the modeling design of the intake grille, which is matched with a split headlamp group similar to the shape of the car logo. The overall design is relatively simple. The front of the new car has sharp lines on the side of the body, adopting a low-lying, wide-body body design style and using the original 21-inch wheels of the concept version. The first batch of 500 numbered "Polar Star 6 LA Concept edition" uses a unique "sky blue" body color. In the rear part, the new car adopts through-type light group, with exaggerated rear spoiler, which further highlights the sports car positioning in the visual effect.

In the interior part, the new car is mainly simple, with a light-colored leather layout. At the same time, the new car also uses a brand new three-frame steering wheel with a small full LCD dashboard and a central vertical screen design. In the seat layout, the new car adopts a 2x2 four-seat layout.

In terms of power, Star 6 is made of a new customized all-aluminum bonding platform and high-performance 800V electrical architecture developed by the British team for Star 5, with front and rear motor drives, providing a comprehensive maximum output power of 650 kilowatts (884 horsepower). The peak torque can reach 900 Nm, zero acceleration is only 3.2 seconds, and the top speed is 250 km / h.

Data show that in 2015, Volvo wholly acquired Polar, becoming Volvo's electrified high-performance R & D department; in October 2017, Volvo and Geely jointly announced the formation of a joint venture brand-Polar Automobile Polestar, since then Polar Star has become an independent electric high-performance vehicle brand, while a new new energy vehicle brand has been added to Geely's new energy product series. On August 10th, Star Motors announced that Feng Dan would succeed Nathan Foxhaw (Nathan Forshaw) as president of Polar Star China.

Polar Star 2, the first pure electric car, was launched on February 27, 2019. the car is based on Volvo CMA architecture and the price range is 25.78-338000 yuan, including 257800 yuan for single motor standard endurance version, 282800 yuan for single motor long endurance version and 338000 yuan for dual motor long endurance version. this car is a volume model under Polar Star Automobile, which mainly competes with Standard Tesla Model 3 in the market competition. Data show that the cumulative global sales of Star Motors in 2021 was 29000 vehicles. As the official did not disclose the sales performance of the specific market, it is not clear the performance of the domestic market.

In terms of product layout, as early as August this year, Polar announced mass production plans for Polestar 6. The final production model is expected to be available in 2026. Polestar 6 is one of the four models to be launched in the next five years. Polaris will also launch three models in the future, including Polestar 3, Polestar 4 and Polestar 5. Polestar 3 will be launched in October this year, positioning performance SUV;Polestar 4 will be launched in 2023, positioning performance sedan SUV Polestar 5 will be launched in 2025 and will be positioned as a four-door GT sports car. From the positioning of the new car, the new car only focuses on performance and luxury large-scale products, with the domestic debut of the concept version of Polar 6, it means that the new car will also achieve mass production in the future, and the time of mass production of the car has been set in 2026, that is to say, before 2026, Polar Motor will launch new products at the rate of one year each year to lay out the product lineup, when the number of mass production products of Polar Star will reach 6, covering Polestar 1 to Polestar 6.

As for the future market performance of the new products, Nathan Foxhaw, president of Star China and Asia Pacific, said that in the future, the three Polestar products on 3-4-5 will well adapt to the needs of the Chinese market. For example, the Polestar 3 and 4 are all SUV models, taking into account the preferences of Chinese consumers. In terms of sales target, Star had earlier set an annual sales target of 65000 vehicles in 2022, but affected by the epidemic and the supply of spare parts, it had to reduce its annual sales target to 50000 vehicles.
