AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/19 Report--
On Sept. 17, Nissan released official drawings of 2023 Sima models and announced that they will sell for $38140 to $44250. Unfortunately, this will be the last iterative model of Nissan's Sima. According to previous reports, Nissan officially announced that it would officially stop production of the Nissan MAXIMA (the domestic equivalent is Sima) in mid-2023, that is, by mid-2023, the plant plans to produce new energy models, including the Canton in Mississippi, which has been renovated and will produce two new electric cars.
As a chronological change and the last generation of iterative models, the appearance of the new car basically continues to use the cash model design style, only in the configuration upgrade. The new car uses Nissan's classic family design language, compared with Nissan's Xuanyi and Teana models, the new Nissan Sima model is more avant-garde in design. Specifically, the front face of the new car uses V-Motion air intake grille, the interior of the upper and lower grille is treated with fumigation elements, the shape of headlamps on both sides is sharp, and the LED daily light belt is C-shaped. On the side of the body, the new car's waistline extends from the hood to the rear and is equipped with flat tires with 19-inch smoked wheels. In the rear part of the car, the taillights of the new car are blackened and run through with black strips, the lower enclosure is also covered with black elements, and the exhaust layout adopts a bilateral and four-sided style.
In the interior part, the new car still retains the design shape of the center console and the elements such as flat-bottomed steering wheel, embedded central control screen, non-full liquid crystal instrument, mechanical block handle and so on. In terms of power, the new car will continue to carry a 3.5L V6 engine with a maximum power of 224kW and a maximum torque of 354Nm. The transmission system will match the CVT continuously variable transmission.
In terms of market competition, the starting price of the new car in the overseas market is higher than that of Nissan Teana (17.98-269800 yuan), but the body size is slightly smaller than Teana.
According to previous reports, Nissan MAXIMA, as the mainstream high-end model in the North American market, is quite hot. Compared with the same class of models, MAXIMA models of previous generations can occupy the top five or six positions in the North American market. Nissan is the mainstream product of luxury sedan in North America, and it is also one of the best-selling models of Nissan. In order to occupy more market share, Nissan MAXIMA was also made in China, Dongfeng Nissan Sima is actually the domestic version of MAXIMA.
Reviewing the development history of the MAXIMA model, the development history of the car can be traced back to 1981 and has a history of 42 years. It has gone through eight iterations. The car currently on sale is the eighth generation product, which was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in 2015. The car adopts the latest design style of the Nissan family, including the V-MOTION front face, slalom headlights and suspended roof design, and the interior is also more sporty. It is equipped with a steering wheel with a flat-bottomed three-spoke design, an integrated center console with a bias to the driver's seat design and a large-size LCD screen.
In 2016, Dongfeng Nissan officially introduced the eighth generation MAXIMA model to the domestic market, and named it "Sima" in Chinese. Dongfeng Nissan Sima went on sale on April 25, 2016, with a price ranging from 23.48 yuan to 267800 yuan. In appearance, Dongfeng Nissan Sima is more athletic, the front face continues to use the overseas version of the MAXIMA model, using V-shaped family grille design, the overall design style and positioning business are obviously different from the sound of nature. In the power part, instead of using the VQ35 series engine, the new car is equipped with a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum output power of 186hp and a peak torque of 234Nm, matching a seven-speed CVT continuously variable transmission.
However, after the launch of Sima, sales were dismal. Nissan's sales of Sima were 2279 in 2016 and fell in the second year, with a cumulative sales of 1172 in 2017, although cumulative sales climbed to 1406 in 2018, but it has been halted since 2019, with only five for the whole year, according to data. In 2020, Nissan sold six Sims from January to May. In the four years since its launch, Nissan has sold less than 5000 Sims in total.
As a medium-and high-end class B car of 250000 yuan, the low market share of Nissan Sima after listing is largely due to the lack of brand height and the lack of consumer recognition of products and prices, but sales have been low for many years. Nissan has not completely stopped the Sima model, and in recent years, it has maintained the life cycle of Sima with order production. In the end, the direct reason for the complete suspension of production in China or the full implementation of the national six emission standards, the current Sima model does not match the national six version.
According to the latest figures, Nissan's cumulative MAXIMA sales fell 62 per cent year-on-year to 3753 vehicles in the first half of 2022, perhaps because of sluggish sales. Nissan finally decided to stop production of the Nissan MAXIMA in mid-2023. After the suspension, Nissan will produce two new electric vehicles, which Nissan plans to account for 40 per cent of its sales by 2030.
