On the evening of September 27th, Dongfeng Nissan's new model, Ariya, was officially launched. The new car is named "AiRuiya" in Chinese. It has launched a total of four models with a price range of 27.28-342800 yuan.

The new car is Dongfeng Nissan's new all-electric SUV model, which is based on Nissan's new all-electric vehicle platform and is positioned as a compact SUV. In terms of appearance, the design of the new car is basically consistent with the previously released version of the concept car, using the "V-Motion" family design language, the front part of the new car adopts forward air grille with closed treatment, the grille is composed of numerous special-shaped modules, and the headlights on both sides are connected with the upper part of the grille to form the visual effect of the penetrating layout. The daily running lights are located under the headlights, similar to the shape of boomerang. The overall recognition degree is higher.

The side of the body, the simple design of the new car, the slippery back of the body and the design of the suspended roof, a waistline extends from the front to the rear, and the whole looks very slender. In addition, the front and rear eyebrows and side skirts of the new car are wrapped in bright black decorative strips. The wheels adopt the low wind resistance shape commonly seen in new energy vehicles at present. In the rear part, the new car also adopts the more mainstream through-type LED lamp group design on the market, the through-type light belt is integrated inside the lamp group, the Nissan English LOGO is also suspended on the bright black decoration panel in the center of the new car, and the back enclosure is equipped with a wide black guard plate, which echoes with the front face modeling.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car is 4603/1900/1654mm, the wheelbase is 2775mm, and the positioning compact SUV. In terms of size, the size of the new car is close to that of the SAIC-Volkswagen ID.4. In the interior part, the layout of the new car is based on simple style, and there are not too many physical buttons. In terms of battery, the new car is equipped with ternary lithium-ion battery pack and CLTC pure electric mileage of 623km.

As a compact pure electric SUV model, the new car will compete with SAIC-Volkswagen ID.4 X, FAW-Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ, Guangzhou Auto Toyota / FAW Toyota bZ4X and other models after its launch.

Dongfeng Nissan is one of the brands of Dongfeng Motor Company. In 2010, Dongfeng Nissan became the first joint venture to introduce the first generation of vehicle networking. On April 25, 2018, Xuanyi Pure Electric was officially unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. At that time, Dongfeng Nissan became the first mainstream joint venture brand to launch pure electric vehicles. Up to now, the models sold by Dongfeng Nissan include Xuanyi, Teana, Canda, Bluebird, SUV Qijun, Xiaoke, Jinke and Loulan. Although there are many products, only Xuanyi, Teana and Xiaoke have good sales performance. Data show that in the first half of 2022, Dongfeng's daily production and sales fell 21.9% to 444705 vehicles compared with the same period last year, of which the seventh generation Teana increased by 10.1% to 74171. Xiaoke fell 6.3 per cent year-on-year to 74064, Xuanyi series fell 17.4 per cent to 207222, and Qijun plunged 86.3 per cent to 11212.

With the change of the car market, the competition in the pure electric market is fierce, and joint venture brands are laying out the new energy market. Japanese car companies represented by Toyota and Honda are vigorously adding electric transformation, successively launching bZ4X and ERAL N series pure electric models, while from the domestic market, there is a big gap between Nissan and Honda and Toyota, and Nissan needs more hot-selling models. And Dongfeng Nissan as a newcomer, the market performance of the new pure electric SUV Ariya after listing remains to be verified.

Nissan's cumulative sales in China fell 18.5 per cent year-on-year to 745793 vehicles from January to August in 2022, with August sales falling 12.0 per cent to 99570 vehicles, according to the latest data. In terms of specific brands, the passenger car sector (Dongfeng Nissan / Qichen / Infiniti) sold a total of 88133 new cars in August, down 8.9% from a year earlier, of which Nissan sold 80006.
