On Sept. 30, the new generation of domestic Olander began pre-sale, with a total of seven models with a pre-price range of 17-230000 yuan, an increase of 10200 yuan compared with the cash starting price.
The new car, built on the Renault-Nissan CMF CD platform, is based on the same platform as Nissan's new Qijun, and is powered by a 1.5T four-cylinder engine + 48V light hybrid system. The new car is expected to go on sale in November.
As a replacement model, the new generation of domestic Olander basically uses the appearance and interior design of the fourth-generation Olander model abroad, but by contrast, the overall shape of the new car is stronger. In the front face, the new car uses the "Dynamic Shield" family design language, and the forward gas grille is divided into two parts, in which the upper part uses a horizontal chrome plated strip, the lower part is an all-black honeycomb design, the middle net uses three amplitude chrome plating and honeycomb matching, the headlamp group adopts a split design, and the far and near light group is integrated with the front surround, so that the whole looks thick and heavy. On the side of the body, the A-column and C-column of the new car are fumigated to create a suspended roof vision. In the rear part, the new car is equipped with two-color roof spoiler, the taillight group is relatively narrow and uses a black lampshade, the long strip shape of the internal LED is highly recognizable after lighting, and the rear enclosure is a hidden exhaust design.
In the interior part, the new car uses light color as the main tone, and the center console is wrapped by a large number of soft materials. In configuration, the new car is equipped with a 12.3-inch LCD meter, a 9-inch central control screen and a 12.3-inch full-color HUD head-up display. In terms of power, the new Outlander power system is equipped with the 1.5T four-cylinder engine model 4B40, which matches the 48-volt light mixing system. Among them, the 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 120kW and a peak torque of 280Nm. The transmission system only provides a CVT continuously variable transmission.
As early as February last year, the fourth generation of the new generation Outlander series was first released overseas. After its domestic launch, the new car will compete with Honda CR-V (169800-276800 yuan), Toyota RAV4 Rongfang (175800-260800 yuan), Nissan Qijun (181900-2629 yuan) and other joint venture compact SUV models.
Up to now, there are seven models on sale under GAC-Mitsubishi, including pure electric SUV Artuco, Olander, Xin Jin Hyun and Yigo, as well as three original imported cars. Among them, Olander is an important source of sales under GAC-Mitsubishi, with figures showing that in 2021, Olander sold 57787 vehicles; Jinxuan ASX 6252; Yige 4242; and Artuco only 79. Outlander, a full-time all-round car imported and manufactured by Beijing Gyibug Automobile Co., Ltd. from Mitsubishi, Japan, and then put it into the domestic market. In other words, Olander is well known by domestic consumers with its image of vehicle import. The real realization of domestic production and domestic sales was in 2016, four years after the establishment of GAC-Mitsubishi. The third generation mid-term revamped Eurand is officially made in China.
Data show that GAC-Mitsubishi sold 43035 vehicles, 63199 vehicles, 56317 vehicles and 55888 vehicles respectively from 2013 to 2016. On September 24, 2016, GAC-Mitsubishi Outlander was officially listed in China. The domestic Olander basically copied the imported version of the shape, and only upgraded the configuration. In spite of this, the listing of domestic Olander has brought greater sales growth for GAC-Mitsubishi. GAC-Mitsubishi sales rose 110.04 per cent year-on-year to 117388 vehicles in 2017, while GAC-Mitsubishi sales rose 22.69 per cent to 144018 vehicles in 2018. However, due to the single model of GAC-Mitsubishi, the overall market performance of GAC-Mitsubishi is not ideal, and then GAC-Mitsubishi successively introduced Yige, Jinxuan and other products, but the increase in the number of models did not make the sales of GAC-Mitsubishi better.
From 2019 to 2021, GAC-Mitsubishi sales were 133016, 75001 and 66006 respectively, down 7.64%, 43.62% and 11.99% respectively from the same period last year, and sales data have declined to varying degrees for three consecutive years. Prior to this, senior officials of GAC GROUP said that the biggest problem facing Mitsubishi is the single product, and that the upgrading of the model will be accelerated in 2022. At the same time, GAC will strengthen its joint venture cooperation and communication with Mitsubishi to promote the development of GAC-Mitsubishi in two to three years. On March 23, Guangzhou Auto-Mitsubishi's first pure electric SUV Atuco officially launched, positioning the compact SUV, a total of two models with a price range of 19.98-229800 yuan.
According to wholesale sales data disclosed by GAC GROUP, cumulative sales from January to August this year were 20730, down 46.81 per cent from a year earlier, of which 3205 were sold in August, down 26.59 per cent from a year earlier. In terms of specific models, from January to August, Outlander sold 20042 vehicles, which is still the main source of sales of GAC-Mitsubishi, while the sales of other models are very mediocre, such as Mitsubishi Jinxuan has only 1234 and Yige has only 927.
