AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/05 Report--
On Oct. 4, BYD's official Weibo announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with global car rental company SIXT, saying that SIXT will purchase at least 100000 new energy vehicles from BYD in the next six years. A number of new energy vehicles from BYD will serve SIXT customers, including the recently launched meta plus in Europe. The delivery of cooperative vehicles will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, and the first phase of the cooperative market includes Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the Netherlands.
According to BYD's release, SIXT is the world's leading car rental company, with branches in more than 100 countries and more than 2100 outlets, providing a series of high-end car rental services for business, corporate and private users. BYD said it would help SIXT achieve its green goal of reaching 70 to 90 per cent of the electric fleet by 2030.
A single order is worth a year's sales of the new power of car building, which is another step up for BYD. Since BYD announced its withdrawal from the fuel vehicle market in April, its sales of new energy vehicles have been climbing. In September, BYD's sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 200000. According to the latest production and sales data released by BYD in September 2022, BYD sold 201259 new energy vehicles in September 2022, an increase of 183.1% over the same period last year, while sales of new energy passenger vehicles increased by 187.0% to 200973. Among them, plug-in hybrid car sales of 106032, pure electric vehicle sales of 94941. From January to September, BYD sold a total of 1.1801 million units, an increase of 249.56% over the same period last year.
While sales are growing rapidly, BYD has also set its sights on opening up overseas markets. BYD has been accelerating its global business since July. On July 8th, BYD Yuan PLUS was listed as ATT O3 in Singapore, realizing the debut of ASEAN countries. On July 5th, BYD announced that it had reached a strategic cooperation with European car dealer group Louwman to jointly develop the Dutch new energy vehicle market. Its first offline store in Amsterdam will open in September. On July 21, BYD announced its official entry into the Japanese passenger car market and simultaneously unveiled three pure electric models: yuan PLUS, Dolphin and Seal. Yuan PLUS is expected to go on sale in January 2023, while Dolphin and Seal will go on sale in mid and late 2023, respectively. On August 1, BYD announced a partnership with European dealer group Hedin Mobility to provide new energy vehicles for the Swedish and German markets.
On September 8th, BYD Automobile Thailand Co., Ltd. announced that it signed a contract with WHA Weihua Group Volkswagen Co., Ltd., formally signing land subscription and plant-related agreements. Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD's Asia-Pacific Automobile sales Division, said: "after understanding and screening, we decided to open an overseas passenger car factory in the WHA Industrial Park, which is an important step in the group's overseas business development. BYD chose to build a factory in Thailand because of its rich automotive industry and first-class manufacturing capacity, and we expect the Thai factory to bring new energy vehicles further into the daily lives of the Thai people. " On September 28th, BYD held an online press conference on new energy passenger cars in Europe, launching three PLUS models of Han, Tang and Yuan for the European market.
The signing of the cooperation agreement with global car rental company SIXT also means that BYD will extend the sales of new energy vehicles to the global car rental field and accelerate the distribution of overseas markets. Of course, BYD's accelerated globalization business is also a microcosm of Chinese brand car export. with the gradual development of domestic independent brands, more and more independent brands are laying out more overseas markets to move closer to multinational car companies.
