AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/07 Report--
According to media reports, Ford will raise the price of its Fmur150 Lightning pure electric pickup truck. Ford said that the starting price of the 2023 Fmur150 Lightning Pro will increase from $46974 to $51974 (about 368000 yuan), an increase of about 11%, but the price increase is expected to be for the most basic Pro models, and customers who have placed orders will not be affected by the price increase. Ford said supply chain problems, rising material costs and market factors were the main reasons for the price increase.
It should be noted that this is the second price adjustment for FMIT 150 Lightning in the past two months. On Aug. 10, Ford said it planned to reopen bookings for the Fmur150 Lightning. At the same time, due to the rising cost of raw materials and other factors, Ford will increase the price of the Fmur150 Lightning by 7% by 18%. After the price adjustment, the starting price of the Fmur150 Lightning Pro will be adjusted to $46974, about $7000 higher than the starting price originally advertised by Ford executives. At the time, Ford also stressed that the new price would only apply to new orders, not orders that were already waiting for delivery.
In May 2021, Ford officially launched a pure electric pickup truck Fmur150 Lightning. At that time, the price of the new car was $39974-90474 (RMB 25.78-583400). In power, the new car was equipped with front and rear axle motors, with a maximum power of 563 horsepower and a 0-96km/h acceleration time of up to 4.5 seconds. a total of four-wheel drive system supports standard, sports, off-road and traction driving modes. The FMel 150 Lightning offers both 98kWh and 131kWh batteries, and the EPA has a range of 230mph, 300mph, and 320mph.
Since October 2021, Fmuri 150 Lightning has officially begun to accept pre-orders, and nearly 200000 new cars have been booked in just two months of pre-sale, which has received an unprecedented market response, far exceeding Ford's expectations. Ford had to suspend bookings for new cars due to far more orders than expected, coupled with a shortage of semiconductors and reduced production of chips. In view of this, Ford Chief Executive Jim Farley said: "Ford plans to increase production of the FMI 150 Lightning at the Dearborn, Michigan, Jung Electric vehicle Center to 150000 vehicles in the next year or so." The figure far exceeded Ford's initial estimate of 40,000 vehicles. At the same time, Ford plans to increase production of the Mustang Mach-E to more than 200000 by 2023.
On April 26th this year, Ford officially announced that the new Ford pure electric pickup Fmur150 Lightning was officially put into production at the electric vehicle center in the Ford Rouge pickup factory. However, although the model has been officially put into mass production, Ford is still facing greater production pressure under the influence of many factors, such as the higher-than-expected order volume and the shortage of semiconductors. This is also the key reason for the second price adjustment of Ford Fmur150 Lightning.
According to the data of the Federation of passengers, from 2019 to 2021, the cumulative sales of pickup trucks were 440000, 480000 and 550000 respectively, showing a momentum of gradual growth. Entering 2022, the pickup market still shows a good trend, with cumulative sales of 343000 pickup vehicles from January to August in 2022, of which 40, 000 were sold in August, an increase of 18.4% over the same period last year. The Federation pointed out that the overall trend of the pickup market is relatively strong this year, but the monthly sales trend is relatively volatile. Relying on the strong growth of pickup exports, pickup production and sales performance is still better than other commercial vehicle sub-markets. In addition, according to the "Research on Development Trends and Policy recommendations of pickup Industry" jointly completed by the China Automobile Association and the National Information Center, under the premise of the steady progress of lifting the ban on the right to enter the city, the domestic demand of the pickup market will reach more than 1 million vehicles by 2030.
According to the plan, Ford plans to produce more than 2 million electric vehicles a year by 2026, accounting for 1/3 of global sales and further increasing to half of global sales by 2030. It is not clear whether the price adjustment of the Ford pure electric pickup Fmur150 Lightning will affect the sales of the model.
