Judging from the list, the top 10 car companies in September are BYD, FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-Volkswagen, Geely Motor, Changan Motor, SAIC General Motors, Guangzhou Automobile Toyota, Dongfeng Nissan, Tesla China, and Chery Automobile. Great Wall Motor fell out of the top 10 again, and Dongfeng Honda fell out of the top 15. Overall, the performance of independent brands and joint venture brands were evenly split, with BYD still the best performer, rising 144.3% year-on-year to 191200 vehicles to a record high, while the best performance of the joint venture brand was FAW-Volkswagen, up 53.1% to 165000 vehicles. As China's leader in new energy vehicles, BYD's sales hit a new high and surpassed North and South Volkswagen to win the top spot in the passenger car market for three consecutive months. According to the data, BYD's car sales rose 144.3% to 191200 vehicles in September from a year earlier, and its cumulative sales in the first three quarters rose 162.2% to 1.1575 million vehicles compared with the same period last year, leading car companies both in monthly growth and annual growth. It is also the second car company to reach a million sales after FAW-Volkswagen. In terms of specific models, in the BYD dynasty series, the sales of the Song, Qin, Han, Yuan and Tang families were 45900, 37400, 31300, 16700 and 15100 respectively. At present, BYD sales are still rising. Compared with FAW-Volkswagen's cumulative sales of 1.3454 million vehicles in the first three quarters, BYD may not be able to catch up with it during the year, but it will be different after entering 2023. It is not difficult for BYD to become the top seller of domestic passenger cars in 2023 according to the calculation of monthly sales of 200000 vehicles. As a performance support, BYD announced to enter a number of overseas markets, including Japan, Germany, Thailand and so on, overseas markets will also become an important growth point of BYD sales.

Among the top 10 on the list, except for BYD, Changan Automobile, Geely Automobile and Chery Automobile all entered the top 10 and increased year-on-year, of which Changan Automobile and Geely Automobile sold 109100 and 105000 respectively, while Chery did not exceed the 100000 level. but the growth rate is relatively strong, rising 43.0% to 72000 in September compared with the same period last year, among which Ruihu 8 is the "bearer" of Chery. 12300 vehicles were sold in September.

As the head of its own brand, Great Wall Motor sales once again fell out of the top 10, lagging behind Chery Motor. As we all know, Great Wall has four passenger car brands: Harvard, Euler, Wei Brand and Tank. In September, only the tank brand achieved year-on-year growth, of which Wei Brand halved year-on-year. Data show that the Harvard H6 is the main sales model of the Harvard brand and even Great Wall, with only 16400 units sold in September, surpassed by BYD Song, Tesla Model Y, Changan CS75 PLUS and BYD Yuan PLUS. With the exception of the Harvard H6, all the other models of Great Wall are ten thousand.

As a representative of the joint venture brand, FAW-Volkswagen significantly outperformed the market in September, rising 53.1 per cent year-on-year to 165000 vehicles, while SAIC-Volkswagen fell 1.0 per cent to 122200 vehicles. In September, Dongfeng Nissan fell 4.8 per cent from a year earlier to 80600 vehicles. It should be noted that Dongfeng daily production and sales cover Nissan, Qichen, Infiniti three major brands, its main sales source Xuanyi, Xiaoke and Teana. Data show that Xuanyi sold 35900 vehicles in September, surpassed by Hongguang MINIEV, Teana for 14400, Xiaoke for 13000, as for the latest launch of the new Qijun model, the specific sales are unknown. Prior to this, Qijun competed with Honda CR-V and Rongfang RAV4, although not as good as the above two models, but monthly sales were basically maintained at more than 10,000 vehicles. For other Japanese car companies, Guangzhou Auto Toyota performed well, with sales up 68.4% year-on-year to 84200 vehicles in September and FAW Toyota up 35.5% to 71600 vehicles. However, the Honda joint venture market was relatively lacklustre, with both Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda falling out of the top 10, with Guangzhou Honda falling 1.0 per cent to 60900 and Dongfeng Honda down 33.1 per cent to 40200. As for the reason for the decline of Dongfeng Honda, on the one hand, it may be affected by the supply of spare parts, on the other hand, it is the upgrading of products. Not long ago, Dongfeng Honda launched a new generation of XR-V and a new generation of CR-V, both of which showed a significant decline in sales, especially the XR-V, which sold only 3009 vehicles in September.

It is worth mentioning that Tesla China once again squeezed into the top 10, with September sales up 48.8 per cent year-on-year to 77600 vehicles. As we all know, the Shanghai factory bears the responsibility of domestic sales and external supply, mainly sold to Japan, Southeast Asia and other countries, selling mainly to the overseas market in the first two months of each quarter, and mainly for the domestic market in the third month, which is the reason why Tesla China once again appeared on the list. Data show that BMW brilliance sold more than 10,000 models in September, including 16200 BMW 3-Series models, 12600 BMW 5-Series models and 10900 BMW X3 models.

In September, sales of new energy vehicles hit another record high, which is why the overall car market is still growing year-on-year under the influence of the epidemic and the supply of spare parts. At present, the growth rate of new energy vehicles is obvious, while the growth of traditional fuel vehicles is weak.
