Throughout the MPV market, the biggest change is that Wuling Hongguang has been overtaken by Buick GL8. According to the list, only two models sold more than 10,000 models in September, namely Buick GL8 and Wuling Hongguang, including 14952 Buick GL8 and 11476 Wuling Hongguang. However, in terms of annual sales, Buick GL8 still lags behind Wuling Hongguang, which sold 126309 vehicles in the first three quarters, down 34.3 per cent from a year earlier, while Buick GL8 sold 97399 vehicles, down 20.9 per cent from a year earlier.

Of course, the two models have different prices and positioning, so there are differences in market performance. It is understood that the Buick GL8 was first put into production in China in 1999. The first generation GL8 is equipped with 3.0L V6+4AT power system. It is the second domestic model of SAIC GM Buick. After its listing, the Buick GL8 has been widely used in a variety of official and business occasions. In July 2005, Buick launched a more luxurious Buick GL8 Luzun model with a more magnificent appearance and more luxurious configurations, with a still 3.0L V6+4AT powertrain. In October 2011, the second generation of Buick GL8 was launched, officially named "GL8 luxury business car", using 2.4L+6AT and 3.0L+6AT power systems, using two generations of Buick GL8 sold in the same house, the market sales have been booming. In November 2016, the third generation Buick GL8 was launched with a new appearance and interior. this generation of Buick completely abandoned the naturally aspirated engine and replaced it with a 2.0T turbocharged engine. As for Wuling Hongguang, a more accurate description should be micro-surface, that is, commercial vehicles. It is understood that Wuling Hongguang is the first cross-border independent research and development product between commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles launched by SAIC GM Wuling, which is regarded as a wealth weapon for starting its own business. According to the official website, Wuling Hongguang models for sale include Wuling Hongguang PLUS, Wuling Hongguang S and Wuling Hongguang S3. The three models differ greatly in spatial performance. The length, width and height of Wuling Hongguang PLUS are 4720/1840/1810mm, with a price of 5.88-79800 yuan.

In fact, Wuling Hongguang's sales have been declining to varying degrees in recent years. At present, limited by the cost and price of micro-face models, in the case of small profits, it is difficult to ask for such models to upgrade in product power, and for the main consumer force in the car market, in the context of the rapid rise in consumption power, micro-face models comparable to rough cars are not in their eyes. Of course, it is no small miracle that Wuling Hongguang has been able to make such achievements to this day.

In terms of other models, Sena sells 6796 cars, which is the current average, but it is still difficult to surpass the Buick GL8. At the beginning of listing, Toyota Saina was spurned by the market because of the price increase, and the sales volume fluctuated greatly in a short period of time, but after entering 2022, the price increase situation of Sena in many domestic markets was alleviated, prompting Sina's sales to increase, and gradually surpassed the Odyssey, Ericsson, Chuanqi M8 and other medium and large MPV, which, in a sense, was the recognition of products and prices.

From the list, the domestic MPV reshuffle trend is obvious, Chuanqi M8, Chuanqi M6 squeezed into the top 6, Wuling Jiachen ranked fifth, popular Lingzhi ranked 7th, Pentium NAT strongly entered the top 9, Chase G50, Maple Leaf 80V also entered the top 15, but Lantu dreamer, Wuling Cajie, seahorse 7X, BYD Song MAX, Baojun 730, Wuling Journey, scenery 380, Jianghuai Ruifeng and other models basically maintained at the level of 1000 vehicles.

Overall, the domestic MPV market is still led by joint venture brands. Buick GL8, Toyota Sena, Honda Odyssey, Honda Ericsson and Volkswagen are still strong, while only a few domestic models such as Chuanqi M6 and Chuanqi M8 perform well. Therefore, while driving cars and SUV, domestic brands have to come up with new popular products in the MPV market in order to meet the severe challenge of joint venture MPV models!
