According to the September midsize sedan sales list compiled by Automotive Industry concern, eight models sold more than 10,000 vehicles in September this year, of which Tesla Model 3 won the top spot with 30919 midsize sedans, while Honda Accord and Toyota Camry ranked second and third with 21163 and 20288 respectively.

Judging from the list of the above statistics, Tesla Model 3 won the top spot in medium-sized car sales with an achievement of 30919 vehicles. Tesla delivered more than 83000 vehicles in China in September, setting a new monthly delivery record, according to the Federation of passengers. Judging from the data, Tesla Model 3 performed well, with an increase of 61.7% over the same period last year. This is also the first time that Tesla Model won the championship in medium-sized car sales after 3 months. From June to August this year, Tesla Model 3 delivered 25508 vehicles, 821 vehicles, and 3390 vehicles respectively, of which less than 1,000 vehicles were delivered in July, mainly due to capacity upgrading. The first phase of the production line of Model 3 began to be upgraded on July 17 and completed on August 7.

Auto Industry concern believes that Tesla's return to the top of the list of Model 3 may be related to the transformation and upgrading of the production line of Tesla's Shanghai factory and the preferential promotion campaign that Tesla launched in the Chinese market in mid-September to enjoy an insurance subsidy of 8000 yuan. According to Tesla's official website, after the upgrading of Tesla's Shanghai factory, its annual production capacity has increased from 450000 to 750000, which is currently Tesla's super factory with the highest production capacity. The increase in production capacity has rapidly boosted the output of Tesla's new cars in China. As a result, Tesla's new car delivery cycle in the Chinese market has also been greatly shortened, and the production capacity has been directly fed back on the sales side after climbing the slope. After entering September, Tesla Shanghai factory new car delivery cycle continues to shorten, according to the official website, the current Model 3 and Model 3 high-performance version of the two models delivery cycle is 4-8 weeks.

Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, which ranked second and third on the list, both sold more than 20, 000 vehicles, 21163 and 20288 respectively, with Accord up 30.2% and Camry up 68.4%. As a medium-term modified model, the new Teana has made certain adjustments to the appearance and shape, using a new design style, and the power is still equipped with 2.0T/2.0L engines. Comprehensive market competitiveness, after the medium-term change, Teana will also continue to compete with Toyota Camry and Honda Accord after listing. At present, both Camry and Accord went on the market last year. It is obvious that Teana's modified products are one step behind in iteration, and it still takes more time to verify whether the new Teana can catch up with Accord and Camry after listing.

Although Volkswagen Maiteng and Volkswagen Passat are sister models to each other, there is also a sales gap of 5696 vehicles between the two models. Passat's sales this month reached a new high for the year, ranking fourth on the list of medium-sized sedans with sales of 19856 vehicles. And Maiteng ranked seventh. The main reason for the difference in sales between the two models may be related to the fact that Maiteng has not yet launched a medium-term change, of which the Passat was launched in August 2021, while Maiteng is currently on sale for the 2020 model, which goes on sale in December 2019.

In addition, in the BBA camp, the BMW 3-Series performed best. From the top 10 of the list, BMW 3-Series retail sales rose 80.3% year-on-year to 16174 vehicles, ranking fifth, continuing to serve as the benchmark product of the BBA camp midsize cars; Audi A4L ranked eighth with 11503 vehicles; Mercedes-Benz C-Class sales declined for three months in a row, falling to 10th to 9187 vehicles, the only model of the three less than 10,000.

Although the BMW 3-Series has received frequent complaints since 2022 because its ID.7 system lacks the remote upgrade and voice control functions described in the owner's manual, its sales have not been affected. Outside the top 10, the ET5 sold only 221 vehicles, and at the NIO Day2020 in Chengdu in January 2021, it was very confident about the sales performance of the ET5. With the delivery of the ET5, ET5 sales will exceed the 3-Series within a year." The ET5 is the second and cheapest car owned by Xilai, positioning a medium-sized luxury sedan, which was announced at the end of last year at a price of 32.80-386000 yuan. According to the plan, Lvlai ET5 will open a large lock order on Sept. 9, and start formal delivery on Sept. 30, and engage in a head-to-head confrontation with the BMW 3-Series. It is worth looking forward to how much the ET5 will surpass the BMW 3-Series within a year.

In addition, Red Flag brand three medium-sized cars also performed well, all ranked in the top 20 on the list, with a total sales of 13530 vehicles. Among them, the sales of Red Flag E-QM5, which is mainly for the ride-hailing market, increased steadily to 5210 vehicles. The new generation Red Flag H5 followed closely with sales of 4753 vehicles in September. The car officially launched on July 26, with a total of 7 configuration models with a price range of 15.98-225800 yuan. as a replacement model, the new car is obviously different from the previous generation model. basically abandoned the styling style of the previous generation model, replaced by a shape similar to the Red Flag H9, with 2.0T powertrain added to the power. Three power options are provided, which are 1.5T engine, 1.5T hybrid system and 2.0T engine. Sales of the Red Flag H5 classic, a previous-generation model, fell, ranking 20th at 3567 in September.

Generally speaking, in the medium-sized car market, Japanese brands Camry, Accord and Teana still take the lead in terms of economy, while the sales of BMW 3-Series, Audi A4L and Mercedes-Benz C-Class models that locate luxury brands are also good, but as the new energy vehicle market continues to break out, the competition in this market segment will become more and more fierce.
