According to the data, Kia Stinger's design was inspired by the Kia GT concept car launched in 2011 and was officially unveiled at the 2017 North American Auto Show. It is the first Kia model with rear wheel drive. In terms of power, Kia Stinger is equipped with 2.0T and 3.3T engines, of which 2.0T engine maximum power 259Ps, peak torque 353N m; 3.3T engine maximum power 370Ps, peak torque 510N m. In terms of transmission, the car matches an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options. With this, the Stinger has become the most powerful mass-production model in Kia's history. At the Guangzhou Auto Show in the same year, Stinger was introduced into China and listed on the market, with a price range of 27.98-319800 yuan. Unfortunately, only 2.0T models have been introduced into China.

As a four-door sports sedan owned by Kia, Stinger's vehicle styling design is very bold and aggressive, the front face family intake grille is very slender, and the sharp headlight group has two L-shaped LED daytime driving light belts, the effect of lighting is quite recognizable. In addition, the engine hatch and the front fender are equipped with ventilation holes, which are matched with the fierce designs on both sides, which further enhance the sense of movement of the appearance and have more performance car demeanor.

The side of the body and the hatchback tail door are common settings for sports cars. The triangular taillights are outlined with LED lights, with a complex diffuser on the rear bumper and four-way exhaust on both sides, which looks very ferocious. In the rear part, Stinger adopts the design of through-type taillight group, and the granular light source is also integrated into the interior of both sides of the lamp group, which echoes with the headlight group. In terms of size, Stinger's length, width and height are 4830/1870/1400mm, wheelbase 2905mm, positioning medium and large vehicles, but their dimensions are not prominent in the same class.

In terms of interior decoration, Stinger adds more innovative elements while retaining the design style of the Kia family, such as circular air conditioning outlet and protruding center console, which looks more athletic, but the design of three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and double round instrument is still a little mediocre. In terms of configuration, it is equipped with driver attention monitoring system, collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian monitoring, adaptive cruising, lane maintenance assistance, driving mode selection and head-up display, etc.

Although with extremely dynamic GT style design and sports adjustment has won a high degree of attention, but the price of 27.98-309800 yuan and only 2.0T version of Stinger, did not win the favor of domestic consumers, dismal sales eventually led to its withdrawal from the Chinese market.

Steinger's positioning of high-performance rear-drive sedan models is a representative of Qiya's performance and technical strength, but it has stayed for only five years since it was launched in 2017, and the market sales are very bleak. As early as 2020, foreign media reported that due to poor sales, Kia confirmed that it would not launch a new generation of stinger, but it would launch a mid-term modified model in 2021, with a more domineering overall appearance and a 3.3T engine on the basis of retaining 3.3T power. replace the 2.0T engine with a 2.5T engine. Even so, however, Stinger cannot escape the fate of stopping production. According to foreign media data, Stinger sold only 6643 vehicles in South Korea's domestic market from January to September 2022, down 36 per cent from 10377 in the same period in 2021.
