At that time, a new generation of domestic X2 may be on the market and compete with comparable sedan SUV models such as Mercedes-Benz GLAs and Audi Q3 Sportback.

As a replacement, the new BMW X2 is based on the BMW FAAR platform. The biggest highlight is that it has moved away from the conventional two-compartment design to the same sedan SUV style as the BMW X4. In terms of appearance, the front face of the new car adopts the classic double kidney grille of the BMW family, with long and narrow headlights on both sides, which lengthens the overall visual effect and has a high degree of recognition. The side lines of the body are smooth, and the C-column adopts a new slippery-back sports coupe design, while the rest is consistent with BMW X4 and X6 models, but compared with the old models, the new car has added 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels. In the rear part, the new car continues to adopt the BMW X2 classic design style. in the exhaust layout, the new car adopts different design methods according to different models, the basic model adopts hidden exhaust layout, and the M35i model adopts bilateral double-exit exhaust layout.

In terms of power, the new generation of BMW X2 will be equipped with different power-adjusted engines according to different models, and the basic model is expected to be equipped with 1.5T and 2.0T turbocharged engines with a seven-speed double clutch gearbox. Other models will provide xDrive four-wheel drive system. At the same time, the new car plans to launch the M35i model with 2.0T high-power and 8AT gearbox, two plug-in hybrid models or 1.5T, 2.0T engine and iX2 pure electric version for consumers to choose from.

The BMW X2, a compact SUV under BMW brilliance, was launched in October 2019. It is powered by a 1.5T/2.0T engine that matches a seven-speed wet double clutch transmission, maximum power 141kw and maximum horsepower 192ps. Judging from the power combination of X2 models currently on sale in China, the new generation of models or the whole system is equipped with 2.0T low-power engine, and the transmission system matches 7-speed double clutch and 8-speed manual self-integrated gearbox.

At present, BMW has a total of X1, X2 and X3 fuel SUV in the Chinese market. Among them, BMW X2 as a niche model, its positioning is in sharp contrast to X1 and X3. Compared with X1 and X3 models, X2 sales in the domestic market are very general. From January to September in 2022, BMW X1, X2 and X3 sold 63116, 15419 and 88113 vehicles respectively in China, according to wholesale sales data.
