Recently, the State Patent Office exposed a group of Chery's new SUV appearance patent map. The new chassis, code-named T1EJ, is based on the same platform as Ruihu 7 PLUS and has a positioning compact SUV, which is expected to be unveiled in the first half of next year.

As a brand-new product of Chery Automobile, in terms of appearance, the new car adopts a new design style with a very square shape, which is obviously different from the current Ruihu series models. The front face of the new car uses a large area polygonal air intake grille, the interior adopts the family crystal drill type medium net, and the two sides are equipped with split headlamp group and penetrating light belt design. From the appearance patent map, it is expected that the upper part of the new car grille will be equipped with penetrating LED light belt, while the headlight group is vertically arranged on both sides of the bumper, the overall shape is square, compared with the current Chery car models, it is more fashionable.

The new car has smooth lines on the side of the body, a suspended roof and a popular hidden door handle. The D-pillar panel is similar to the Omenda model, and it is expected that the new car will belong to the OMODA product line. In the rear part, the new car is also equipped with through-type taillights, and the exhaust layout is bilateral.

On the power side, based on the same platform as the Ruihu 7 PLUS, the new car is expected to have 1.5T and 1.6T turbocharged engines, while the new car is likely to launch a plug-in hybrid version.

Generally speaking, as a brand-new product, the new car is obviously different from Chery's current products on sale. According to the official website of Chery Automobile, Chery Automotive products are divided into three major product series: Ruihu series, Ai Ruize series and Oumengda product series, among which Ruihu series include Ruihu 8, Ruihu 7, Ruihu 3X and Ruihu 5X; Ai Ruize series of products on sale include Erize GX and Erize 5 PLUS. Oumengda is the first model of Chery's new product line OMODA, officially launched on July 12 this year, Omonda positioning compact SUV, a total of seven models, price range of 9.29-126900 yuan, equipped with 1.5TCI and Kunpeng power 1.6TDGI engine, the former maximum power 156hp, matching CVT gearbox, the latter engine maximum power 197hp, peak torque 290Nm, matching seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.

Although Chery has a relatively complete SUV product line and a large number of products, there are not many models with excellent sales. Take 2021 sales as an example, Chery's cumulative sales in 2021 increased by 46.3% year-on-year to 656846 vehicles (including exports), of which Ruihu 8 accounted for 18% of the total sales, 120684 vehicles.

In 2022, Chery has launched a lot of new products. For example, in the second half of this year, Chery plans to release four new models, including Erize 5 GT, Arize 8, Ruihu 7 Plus modification and mixed version. Among them, Chery Arize 5 GT model was launched on the evening of September 8, the new car positioning compact car, a total of three models, the price range is 99900-108900 yuan Arize 8 was officially launched on September 26, with a total of 5 models with a price range of 10.89-132900 yuan, all equipped with 1.6T Kunpeng power. The new Ruihu 7 PLUS will be pre-sold on October 26 and officially launched on November 7. As a modified model, Ruihu 7 PLUS has upgraded its appearance, interior and configuration to varying degrees. It is expected to be powered by a Kunpeng power 1.6TGDI engine, maximum power 145kW, peak torque 290 Nm, and transmission matched by a seven-speed double clutch gearbox.

According to official data, from January to September in 2022, Chery increased 55% to 679863 vehicles compared with the same period last year, including 112.6% in September compared with the same period last year to 112980. Ruihu 8 and Ruihu 7 series are the main models of Chery's sales growth, selling 141400 and 119700 respectively from January to September. Chery has high hopes for Bamengda, the first model of the new product line OMODA, but it sold only 5647 cars in March, 812 in July, 1954 in July and 2881 in September. In other words, Chery still has only two volume models, Ruihu 8 and Ruihu 7, but it is not practical for Chery to achieve an annual sales plan of 1.5 million-2 million vehicles through these two models, which also means that Chery needs to launch more popular products.
