The recall is an expansion of the recall of some EQC electric vehicles by Beijing Mercedes-Benz Co., Ltd., which was issued on February 18, 2022.

From December 15, 2022, the recall of some EQC electric vehicles from December 5, 2019 to September 17, 2022 will be expanded, totaling 3345 vehicles. Starting from February 1, 2023, some EQA and EQB electric vehicles with production dates from February 11, 2020 to October 10, 2022 will be recalled, totaling 8078.

The reason for the recall is due to the manufacturing deviation of the electric drive module, and there may be insufficient sealing in the cooling system in the electric drive module of some vehicles within the scope of this recall, resulting in coolant leakage. If the coolant seeps into the motor, the insulation resistance of the high voltage system may be reduced after long-term use, resulting in the vehicle unable to start. In addition, under extreme conditions, the output power of the electric drive module of the vehicle will be reduced, so there are hidden dangers.

In view of the above defects, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will, through authorized dealers, replace the improved electric drive module assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge, in order to eliminate safety risks.

In addition, the recall of some EQC electric vehicles issued by Beijing Mercedes-Benz Motor Co., Ltd. on February 18, 2022 was changed to replace the improved electric drive module assembly for vehicles within the recall range free of charge.

On February 18, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Motor Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 10104 EQC electric vehicles manufactured from November 30, 2018 to December 15, 2021 from August 15, 2022. In view of the above defects, Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. will check the production sequence number of the electric drive module for the vehicles within the recall range by authorizing the dealer, and if the production sequence number is within the affected range, the improved electric drive module assembly will be replaced free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
