On November 2, SAIC GM Wuling officially announced its new mini electric vehicle Air ev and identified the new car as "clear Sky". At the same time, "clear Sky" exposed four colors of white, blue, gray and coffee for the first time. Officials said that the Chinese name "clear sky" of Air ev means that every light trip is accompanied by blue sky and white clouds, just like a clear sky, enjoying every trip freely.

Based on the global architecture and global concept, the new car is the first new energy global car in Wuling. From the official official picture, the appearance of the new car as a whole focuses on the minimalist design style. The front face is designed with through-type LED daytime driving lights, and the split headlamp group is popular in time. The upper LED through-type lamp belt edge is decorated with strips and extends to the rearview mirrors on both sides, making the new car look more young and dynamic. On the side of the body, the new car adopts the mainstream mini car box shape in the market, An and B columns are smoked and blackened to create a suspended roof atmosphere, the side window area is large, and the door handle adopts vertical design. In the rear part, the new car also adopts the through-type taillight design, which echoes with the front face, and the driving lights and brake lights on both sides of the rear of the main light group are only under the rear windshield glass. In addition, the new car runs through the interior of the light belt with Wuling LOGO logo.

In terms of body size, the new car provides two different wheelbase models, corresponding to two-seater and four-seater models, in which the two-seater model (standard wheelbase) is 2599/1505/1631mm and the wheelbase is 1635mm; the four-seater model (long wheelbase) is 2974/1505/1631mm and wheelbase 2010mm respectively. For comparison, the length, width and height of the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV are 2917/1493/1621mm, the wheelbase is 1940mm, and the overall size of the new car is slightly larger than that of the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV.

In the interior part, the new car offers two sizes of LCD instruments, of which the large size is the popular double-connected screen design, which integrates the LCD instrument and the central LCD screen, while the low-end version has only the instrument screen like the Hongguang MINIEV. In terms of power, it has not been officially announced, but according to the declared information, the new car will use a single motor layout, the maximum power is 30kW, equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery pack, the top speed is 100km/h, the overall performance or super Wuling MINIEV.

As Wuling's first new energy global model, the new car made its debut in Indonesia in August this year, with the 200km standard version priced at 238 million Indonesian rupees and the 300km long-lasting version priced at 295 million Indonesian rupees, equivalent to about 11-135000 yuan. SAIC GM Wuling officially delivered 300 Air ev on October 26th local time, as the first Chinese new energy vehicle to enter the Indonesian market. Since its launch, the Air ev has ordered more than 4000 vehicles, making it the highest monthly sales of new energy vehicles in Indonesia.

Since SAIC GM Wuling launched Hongguang MINIEV as a popular model, there have been more and more imitators in China, including Chery QQ ice cream, Chery new energy small ant, Reading Mango, punk Duoduo, Lingbao BOX and scenery MINIEV, and the price of the model is very close to Hongguang MINIEV. However, since its launch, Wuling Hongguang MINIEV has become the best performing model in the A00 market and occupies a large share of the market segment. It will not be easy for these models to surpass Hongguang MINIEV in the short term. According to the Federation of passengers, Hongguang MINIEV sold 395500 vehicles in 2021, up 250.7% from the same period last year; Wuling Hongguang MINIEV sales rose 15.7% to 297063 vehicles from January to September in 2022; and Chery QQ ice cream was 80744.
