Century is a model with a long history under the Buick brand, and its sixth generation product is also the first model introduced into China by the Buick brand, which is named "New Century" in China. From the point of view of the market environment and vehicle positioning at that time, Buick in the new century can even compete with the domestic Audi A6 introduced in the same period. Based on the past, the name "Century" also symbolizes a higher-end product image in the domestic market for Buick, which is not positioned as a luxury brand. Now Buick launches the name again on its new MPV model, which also represents the Buick brand's attempt to differentiate its products from the existing GL8 series, thus entering the higher-end MPV segment.

According to the Buick brand product plan, Century has been independent from the GL8 series to a new car series. Therefore, after getting rid of the product positioning of the "high-end version of GL8", the century of independent car operation will aim at the domestic high-end MPV market segment. Meanwhile, Avenir Avia is still positioned as a Buick-owned high-end brand. In other words, both Century and GL8 will derive their respective Avenir versions. In the future, the Buick MPV family will be composed of Century, GL8 Avia, GL8 ES Lu Zun and GL8 land business class from top to bottom.

As the flagship MPV model, Buick Century may not ask for quantity, targeting Toyota will / Elfa or even Lexus LM, these MPV are often sold in millions and increase prices in the end market, but as a label model in the domestic public business MPV market, Toyota Elfa / Wale's market segment is a new area that Buick brand MPV has not penetrated into.
